seriously? I mean...seriously...even though it is bleeding edge...developers should do testing themselves before putting stuff out...its called quality. Nobody wants to be known as the dev that has low quality procedures in place. Testing is usually done behind the scenes. Bugs can be reported then...and corrected before pushing to all of the users. That is why you have people who tried miui...had probs...and were discouraged from ever trying it again. And what do you think their opinion is of MIUI? (its CRAP). thats what they think even though they dont follow and keep up with updates...and obviously MIUI is NOT crap...its Imho the best rom out for android.
dont be so negative man. you cant expect devs to be able to duplicate problems and come up with fixes for them, if they dont know what ALL of the problems are in the first place. some people have different problems that others dont, and were all using the same phone. trial and error.. and how bad would it SUCK if they didnt release these beta versions and just released a final and said "we know theres problems but we dont have time or the inclination to fix them all, so youre just gonna have to make-due with what we're giving you..." they're offering US a service by being able to post bugs and possibly get them fixed (and normally they fix the majority of them). i like the way they get released, and it seems like everyone else does too. it allows people to learn as we go along as well..
I agree that his tone is negative, but he makes good points. 6.0 and 6.1 were released and weren't stable enough to be usable. To make matters worse, when I initially mentioned dialer force closes with 6.1 (I was the first to do so), I was told that I was wrong, I had either installed the wrong version or didn't wipe before installing. As more people mentioned the issue, I was validated. Less than 24 hours later, 6.2 hit and it was a breath of fresh air. Now couldn't we all have waited the 24 hours for 6.2 while the testing was done behind the scenes?
Some people who had never used Miui might have flashed one of these earlier versions and given up on Miui forever. You have to see the big picture sometimes and look outside our small community and consider the end user who isn't willing to religiously follow these threads for the latest bug fixes/updates. That user isn't you or I, but there's no reason to think there aren't hundreds of those people out there who have already given up on Miui.
There really is no reason why the release couldn't have been postponed for a day to get most of the kinks ironed out.
Here is what I propose (This is for you
Zenulator and
MetiCkOne), set up a thread asking people to volunteer to be testers for "alpha" versions of the ROM. Select a handful of people, and don't release a new version until a certain number of these people have already tested it. I for one would gladly volunteer.
I'm sure you guys already have a similar protocol but between v6 and v6.2 it didn't appear to work so well. Again, this is meant only as constructive criticism.
