Most of the time it's a deposit.
How much are we talking here? $50? $100? Just want to be prepared in case we get some favorable news over the next couple days.
This whole situation is very disturbing. The phone is supposed to be out this month but no announcement from Verizon at all. I'm starting to think its because Google is fighting with them to release the phone unlocked or unencrypted and Verizon is refusing to do so. I feel as though this is likely because neither parties are making any statements.

Thats my 1st time seein it,thxzanyone caught this article yet:
Pre-Release Galaxy Nexus Unboxing [Video]
I'm just getting up to speed this morning and this is the first thread I'm checking in on, so it may have been posted elsewhere...
One would hope/think that Google would have made that very clear up front to VZW, that the Nexus would be an unlocked phone, and that was the only way they'd be getting the "Nexus" label on it
Yeah, I can guarantee you that's not the issue here. If Verizon was firm on the bootloader, Google would have killed the Verizon Nexus project long ago (Like they did with the Verizon Nexus One - with morphed into the Droid Incredible).
The issue must be either: 1) Nagging LTE issues, which would be nothing new with Verizon's LTE network. 2) They intentionally held this phone's release to push the Razr and Rezound. Or 3) A combination of both.
People gotta remember, Verizon never once set a release date for this phone. They only stated end of the year. This could be November or December in my book. November release was only confirmed for Europe.

Well, I can't say a lot, but in general the story I heard goes like this - Verizon went out and made a good deal with Samsung/Google to have a temporary exclusive on the phone. OK, cool beans - except that Verizon was preparing to install their usual amount of bloatware on it (they either didn't realize, or didn't *care* that Google has a special feeling about their Developer Phone), Google stepped in and said "Wait a minute, you can't put that junk on our flagship" and Verizon got really mad. The story goes on to say that Verizon then threatened to walk away from the deal, Google said "You do that and we will no longer certify our OS on Verizon phones", and there it stands.
Is the story true? I have no idea, but it is a *plausible* explanation for the delays and the odd lack of advertising or show of any enthusiasm on the part of Verizon.
While I'm hoping the release is this Friday, I would almost prefer it to be in a couple weeks now. I've been following this phone for a long time now and had money set aside to grab one on release day but a recent event caused me to have to basically throw that money away. I'm going to school full time and my wife is working until I graduate in June. Between school, work and kids there's not much time for me to find even a part-time job. What cash I do have left will go to the kids for Xmas. I know this isn't relevant to the topic but I just needed to vent. To everyone on here, when it does drop, be sure to let me know what I have to look forward to when I finally can get mine.
