Post Your Weather Pictures

Glad y'all are ok guidot. Vermont does seem to have the worst out of the hurricane. Seems weird sayin that as the extreme northeast hasn't had hurricanes or even tropical depressions in a very long time. Hoping the best for them though

I did the same after Katrina. I had pecan and oak. But settled in the oak. It had a better flavor. The pecan gave the food too much smokey taste.

The oak really is good and I got a Hickory tree to saw up and ill be using that for coals also. Hickory is also great for smoking meat.

Anyone live in central-northern VT?

When Katrina hit us, there were people getting paid to clean up fallen trees. They would save the wood and sell it later for firewood. Wasn't a bad idea. They got paid twice.

Yea some people have the same idea here but I have 4 trees worth of oak in my back yard that I have gotten that's waiting to be spilt and now getting hickory trees. We got 3 fire places and love to cook in the winter plus smoking pork butts takes a lot of wood plus patience haha

So far so good. We're getting periods of heavy rain, then it will go to a drizzle. Its been off and on like that and probably going to be that way until it passses. The coast is under a flood advisory. Mostly from the southern winds pushing the water in.

Flash flood watch in MS isn't there?

Yep. Along the 3 coastal counties and low lying ares. We live about a mile from the beach, but we're at elevation ~25. We drove down to the beach and most of the piers are under water. A few streets were closed of, but theres not much impact here. Except for Hwy 90 along the coast. A lot of sand on the highway. Looks like that picture i posted here a while back. Some people were at the beach skim boarding on the beach itself. Theres sections that look like small ponds. Perfect for skim boarding. The winds are around 30mph. Just a rainy weekend.

Was that your truck chevy? I hope your area is ok now that the waters are subsiding and the flooding is over. Hope you and your family and friends are ok. We're doing ok but my daughters best friend in vermont has told us the devastation in southern vermont is awful. There is a lot of severe damage in those beautiful little towns that New England is famous for. How sad :-(

@CJM: Water isn't coming near the residence is it? We had several piers in Atlantic Beach get washed away or severely damaged. I havent made it back to the beach house yet since Katia looks like it might swerve close to the coast of NC. I got to look up some models on what it is going to do. I heard 20"+ of rain for yall. Hope that number is cut down enough for no major flooding but enough to get the drought numbers down some.

@Red: Thankfully it wasn't my truck but it was man's truck I knew. His insurance company is covering him enough for another truck. I guess thats what full coverage does for you haha. Also hope all the family and friends of the family are ok during all the flooding. Although it is a shame to see that happen to such beautiful country

I haven't seen any numbers, but it looked like the water was a few feet higher than normal. We're high and dry here, except for all the rain. No flooding where we're at.
