PSX4Droid => General Discussion

Thats awesome, itd be great to have such classics and FFVII - IX on the go. I cant wait. But one question, any chance of any hints as to where the get the ISOs when they come out? Kinda like with the other emulators everyone has said where to get the ROMs.

You could just rip the CDs since EVERYONE should own FFVII - IX =P

For anyone going to download this emulator, here is a tutorial on how to get all the favourite games you own LEGALLY!

What you Need:
- Original CD of your game
- Alcohol 52% or Alcohol 120% (my preference of program. There are others, but if you are unsure of what to do, use either one of these)

They can both be downloaded free for a trial period of 15 days. Only for windows, sorry. I use a Mac, but I just booted into Windows using Bootcamp.
Alcohol Soft trial version download

What to do:
1) Install the program
2) Insert the CD into your computer
3) Open up Alcohol and on the left, click Image Making Wizard.
4) Click the tab that says "Reading Information", and then tick the box that
says "Read Sub-Channel Data from current disc".
5) On the "Datatype" drop down list on the bottom, Select "Play Station"
6) In the "Image Name" box, name what you want to call the ISO
7) Underneath that, choose where you would like to save it.
8) Underneath that, choose "CloneCD Image File" from the drop down
menu.
9) Click Start!

It should take about 5 minutes. In the end, 3 files will be created where you chose to save it.
.ccd
.img
.sub

I'm not sure which files will be needed for Zod's emulator, but I'm guessing it would be the .img file since it's the largest.
Hopefully Zod will create a Tutorial on the BIOS and stuff like that to prevent forums getting spammed with help questions.

Anyway, Hope this helps! I'm ripping all my favourite games now!

Guess i'm the only one who despises on-screen controls. Aside from taking up space on the screen itself, alot of action/adventure titles are rather difficult to play i.e. mario, donkey kong, etc...i can only imagine the agony of trying to play Ocarina of time, which uses most every button on a standard N64 control, the controls alone would probably take up half the screen, but i digress. Long live the physical keyboard.
No I hate them too. This is why, even though I have many games on my iTouch, I play them very little.

Thanks for posting this. I always wondered how that would work :) Dusting off my copy of Wipeout XL and WuTang Shaolin Style now :)

Thanks for posting that droid-face. My games are all in Storage and Im using a Mac but those instructions may yet come in handy once I get my desktop fixed.

You know I cant help but wonder how this will play out. Im thinking of both left and right analog sticks, how will those be added to the emulator? How can we use them on the Droid? Id say the mouse but wouldnt that be the arrow keys as it is with most emulators? Im thinking it might be great but it might also be kind of awkward. I guess we wont know until it comes out. I also feel the same about the N64.

And truthfully, has anyone beaten any emulated games on their Droid? I know Id quickly play some FFVII on the go but I doubt Id ever beat it. Just wondering and adding some casual conversation.

All I know is that jailbroken iphone users are madly in love with both emulators and they have no means of physical keyboard, so my guess is that it might be awkward but at the same time might be very easy to get use to. Hopefully, sooner than later, someone will be develop an app to enable ps3 controllers usage via Bluetooth... If I had any programming or any kind of hardcore computer knowledge I would definitely try out that venture.. seems very profitable...

Well here is some obvious news. I asked Yong if we really could see the emulator by the end of the month and he replied with: Sorry the answer is no. We will try our best to have it released as soon as possible.
thanks!

And Don't spam the Thread. Most likely the next update you will hear will be from Mustang and it will be on Droid Blog telling about the release of the emulator its really close and they just have been busy. So don't ask about release dates its coming really really soon just not within the next 2 days. Sorry for teasing you guys like this and i take full responsibility for getting you guys so hyped and making you wait! I was just so excited. The emulator will be here soon enough and please make sure to buy the app when it comes out.

Also to soften the blow here is the movie The Crazies the remake of George Romero's film starring actor sensation Timothy Olyphant!!!

Thanks for the info. Of curse, we'll buy the app!!:icon_ banana:
I have a cuestion, let's see if anyone can answer it: do you know what type of savegames will use the emulator? I wanna know if I'll be able to continue my ePSXe games.
Thanks for all and sorry for my english:)

Imo..
Your save states will not work.. but if you import a memory card.. into the emulator.. and save it like that..
Then Zod/yongz emu supports memory cards then you should be able to..
So it basicly depends on the emulator.

some news in terms of dpad controls and savegame files :

MustangGT500:
the most guys want to play with the droids keyboard or with a external gamepad like the wiimote. would be nice to know if its already included and working in some aspects or if it will be done in a update :)

ZodTTD:
dpad support works, I'm unable to test qwerty and wiimote currently. I will ask Yong as he has that sort covered. Will know shortly

MustangGT500 :
ok thank you :) keep up the good work
a final question. what type of savegame will the emulator use ? can u use the savegames from epsxe for example ?

ZodTTD:
Save states are specific to each emulator, so in that case no. That's more a general rule. But there's memory card saves which are standard MCD (traditional PCSX) format.
