PSX4Droid => General Discussion

That's great news. been a long in time in the making. This thing will be popular if it moves out on schedule

On his Formspring someone asked about psx4droid a couple of days ago.

He said it should be on the market with a week or less....

It's already over a week off schedeul...

Its ok the two developers are in different timezones and have trouble communicating i do believe they are waiting on app submission it should be sometime this week but zodttd has said this exact same thing a week ago so i guess this could be wrong but its fine it should be out soon.

Going to zod's site it seems like his main focus is iphone development. Does apple even allow emulators? Seems like focusing development on a platform that must be jailbroken to even allow these apps to run is counterproductive when you have a booming android market.

let me quote
"What I Am Working On"

"After a long hiatus, I’m back to work on lots of iPhone & iPod Touch updates and even some iPad releases. First up are updates to allow all my current emulators to run on the iPad. They aren’t too shabby in 2x scale mode and they run amazingly well! Changes needed to be made to make this happen though. I am retooling my virtual controller code to allow for unique button images and a preview option in the skin selection to reposition each button. I also will be adding WiiMote controller support to those where it’s missing."

"The first update will be psx4iphone. The psx4all code has been massively updated to allow for PSP EBOOT formatted PSX games, CDDA music, and tons of compatibility fixes. It will run much faster too.
Next up will be gpSPhone, snes4iphone, and n64iphone. After that I will check with everyone to see what should be updated in which priority."

This update was July 3rd.

Sounds to me like a developer that is not concerned with the android platform. Would really be nice to see someone else step up to the plate that is more concerned with this platform and being the first on the block to release a psx / n64 emulator.

All his comments on the site are directed towards iOS. I am STILL considering this vaporware and borderline pandering to android users, even moreso after checking out his site.

As for now, we'll take what we can get, but it is a shame that with such an open platform no one has really taken the initiative. As for the iphone preference, as of today, it's still the more profitable of the two OS due to the amount of users that have probably been lining their pockets since the 3G iphone. If we want dedicated developers, make sure they're paid for their work. If yong or zodd reads this, your work will be worth its weight in gold amongst the android community, seriously who wouldn't pay for a functional psx emu on their phone. I'm just glad to know they've made it to the app submission stage, it's on its way.

also remember Yong Zhu is working with Zod on this. Yong has already made $1+ million on his emulators through Android, so if anyone, he knows the profitability potential on Android. This will come out, just the timetable is still up in the air.

Not sure what you guys are all thinking, but Zod is finished ...

He's been finished for probably a week now, that's why he's not mentioning on his website.

Its all in Yong Zhang's hands, just to fix compatibility on some devices like the HTC Legend (which was an issue be faced with Gameboid, but was easily fixed.)

I'll be surprised if it's not published before Friday.

I sure hope you're right. I can't wait to have gran turismo on my phone. It makes NFS:shift look like a bad game. I just hope a 1ghz droid is fast enough to emulate without too much lag.

No video's or beta's / alpha's or anything we have to solidify that this is not just some elaborate hoax? As of right now it's 37 pages of hopes, dreams, friend of a friend says and whatnot. I find this highly suspicious. Now the app is handed off to another developer with the reasons for bugfixing.

Get this out and into the app store, no one expects a emulator to run 100% perfectly, support the major phones (evo, droid, incredible, nexus one) and worry about others in version 1.1+ when you would have the luxury of not only feedback from multiple people / phones but the incentive to make it better.

I agree, they should have released a 1.0 for non legend users.
But that's obviously not the devs intention. When Yong emailed me he said he didn't want users to be unhappy.
Its understandable, but when the public are told "1 more week" and it never comes, I'd imagine people would he more unhappy than if it were released with compatibility issues.

Sooooooooon hopefully. I've chucked the BIOS and 2 of my ripped games on my SD card.

So any news yet? Im anxiously awaiting this.

I dont understand why people are saying that theres more money with the iPhone. The games cannot run on the phone unless its jailbroken. Now correct me if Im wrong but doesnt that mean the apps cannot be bought on the App store? So how is he making money off this, selling it directly off of his own site with a link to some sort of Paypal account?

And truthfully, I may be in the minority but I despise iPhone games. The touch screen is horrible with games. I couldnt get anywhere on my Resident Evil 4 and gave up playing Zenonia. Now I have Zenonia on my Droid and its an all around better experience. Why? The little arrow buttons on the right hand side make a great joystick. Not to mention theres already emulators on the iPhone and from what Ive heard they are good but are serious battery drainers.

But hey the fact is hes the developer and he develops for whichever he sees fit. I dont think its the best of ideas but I doubt that matters.

I really don't understand the point of introducing something amazing like a playstation emulator for Android... and then taking about a year to release it. Listen... android users are tired of crappy games. We have like... nothing. I gave away my iPod Touch when I bought my EVO... but I remember having pages upon pages of quality games and never could decide what to play. On my EVO.... I have a folder with... some games.... most of which are pretty bad. I do love my emulators though....

All I hear about is...

ANGRY BIRDS COMING SOON...
PEGGLE\POPCAP GAMES COMING SOON....
PSX EMULATOR COMING SOON...

For **** sake, just tell me when it's out so I can be excited and go play them. Having to wait endlessly for anything good makes me hate this platform for gaming that much more.

Now... I appreciate your hard work developers... but from now on, keep yo trap shut til you're done!

It's safe to say people are losing their patience. I hate to sound selfish, but screw the non-flagship devices for now. If anything, let the hype from the marquee devices drive up the demand for compatibility with their respective devices, then drop the update. Motodroid, incredible, evo, and nexus are the current target and cashcow of android. Why not take care of them first, then come back the others.

ok.. so let me get this strait..

Fix bug for certian android phones... and have newbz say OMG THIS IS FAIL DONT WORK..

Or release it right this second and have thousands of people rate it 5 stars..
and line ur pockets while allowing us to play some ff7 and mgs.
