PSX4Droid => General Discussion

some news in terms of dpad controls and savegame files :

MustangGT500:
the most guys want to play with the droids keyboard or with a external gamepad like the wiimote. would be nice to know if its already included and working in some aspects or if it will be done in a update :)

ZodTTD:
dpad support works, I'm unable to test qwerty and wiimote currently. I will ask Yong as he has that sort covered. Will know shortly

MustangGT500 :
ok thank you :) keep up the good work
a final question. what type of savegame will the emulator use ? can u use the savegames from epsxe for example ?

ZodTTD:
Save states are specific to each emulator, so in that case no. That's more a general rule. But there's memory card saves which are standard MCD (traditional PCSX) format.

Wow I was 100% correct like I thought about save states and memory cars.

Hey zodttd responded to someones tweet and said the app is coming soon needs to talk to yong and work on submission

that means nothing in the tweet :). i talk every 3, 4 days to zod. he often told "soon" but then some complications in the developement appeared. what i heard from him we have still to wait a bit. but i think july can be realistic.

Judging by his tweet though, he says "some features need to be added". I'm guessing this is Yong's part and will include keyboard control support and other UI stuff like that. If there were any complications in the actual development of the emulator I'm sure he would say something.

He sounds very certain that this time will be the final "soon". I'm hoping this as well and that bottleneck he found in the performance of the emu is fixed.

Hopefully it's all up to Yong now to shine it up a little to meet his other emulator standards.

By submission he means publishing the app on the market, yeah? This doesn't sound like a challenging hurdle unless there is a problem with Yong publishing the app under his name, or if Zod making a developer account etc etc etc.

My estimate is 2 weeks unless a pre-release version is given out to feed some hunger.

it could be that it will be released in two weeks. but i wouldnt expect to much, that you dont be disapointed. like i said i have very much contact with zod and i know how he is working. he does a good job but he isnt a magican. also it could be that yong haves to include still some features. we will see. i will talk with zod again this night. thats more worth then any tweet outthere :).

Everyone zodttd just answered on his twitter that it will be done in a week or two so thats the set date:

Are you still working on porting your emulators over for Android?

Yes I am. The first being psx4droid, a Sony Playstation emulator for high-end Android devices. It runs pretty nicely on the Nexus One, and looks great with the virtual keypad. Other touches are being added by my partner Yong, who does the GameBoid and Nesoid products on Android Marketplace. I believe psx4droid will be able to be submitted to the Marketplace within a matter of a week or two. I have to confirm with Yong where some features stand for the initial release.

I can't wait to see how the Droid X handles this emulator! If it works well, I may buy a Wii remote just for this.

Could someone with contact with him ask about multiplayer support? The HD2 has it with multiple bluetooth gamepads and I think that'd be pretty sick to have two player.

OK I just got a reply from Yong.
I asked him about the "things that needed to be added" according to Zod.
Here's what he said.
"Yes. It's to fix the crash on some phones, like HTC Legend. I don't want users to be annoyed with this bug."
I think this was one of the issues the Legend had with the other emus, so he must know what he's doing.
Its just further cementing the release date of a week or two.

tried to contact zod yesterday but no luck ill try today again. the devices compatibility issues i already told you from zod. hope it will be fixed soon. i will ask for mp support and compatbility list.

On his Formspring someone asked about psx4droid a couple of days ago.

He said it should be on the market with a week or less....
