PSX4Droid => General Discussion

I've been having a problem with savestates recently. Occasionally when I load one, it fails and goes back to the menu for selecting the rom. Anyone else have this problem, or know why? Could it be kernel related? (Using p3droid's lv 1.1ghz with no other problems)

Also, anyone have success with FF8 or Diablo? I know FF8 runs slow for everyone on the world map, but mine also freezes a lot. With Diablo, it runs fine until I start attacking stuff, then it glitches up with crazy blue lines and freezes o_O

Hi everyone! I have read this forum for months but now finally got to registered here, so here's my first post! :)
Has anyone of you noticed any weird bugs in the games (that don't appear when playing on computer)? Like in Gran Turismo 2, when I try to drive licences, in the first licence (B i think it was) it says I won gold always when the licence hasn't even started yet. Well, that doesn't bother me, but in the second licence (A) it always says I failed before it even starts :S
And in Driver 2, everything works perfectly (in the half speed but it's ok, I think the performance will be better in future updates) but after the 2nd last mission in Chicago (Caine's compound or something) the game just closes itself while in the loading screen :S
These are really annoying issues that don't appear when playing on computer, do you think that the Devs can fix these bugs or do I have to throw the app in the garbage bin because I can't play my favourite games? :(

sorry for no news about upcomming emu features. but zod is really hard to reach actually. as soon as i get some news ill post it here.

I can't even get it to run, tried many bios files. Used a program to uncompress from that ECM format from bin.ecm to iso. I know FFVII is confirmed working and I can't even get that to boot. All I get is a black screen. I have heard of some getting the controls onscreen with a black screen but I can't even get that far. Any suggestions?

My god, you guys (not all) are the biggest group of whiny babies. Seriously, for the months before release all you could do is ***** about it not being released. Then, once pressured to release an emu probably before it's truly ready, all you can do is ***** about updates.

Yes, of coarse he's going to support is work. Just look at his other emus, they get updates often; adding features and fixing bugs. This is a whole other beast, just have some patience. You guys should be saying "HOLY **** I HAVE PSX ON MY PHONE!!!!", but instead you are acting like spoiled, entitled brats.

I am having some problems with overheating since using psx4droid.

Phone: Moto Droid
ROM: BB0.4 2.2
Kernel: P3 1.1GHz LV

When I have the cpu speed set to run up to max 1.1GHz the games run pretty smooth and sound great but I can only play for about 4 minutes before the game freezes and eventually my phone resets. I have tried running at 900MHz but the games are pretty choppy and the sound is horrible and I still lock up and restart after about 10 mins.

Does the original droid just not have enough power to run psx without overclocking and overheating? Could it just be my Rom or kernel needs to be different? What are you guys using and what results?

Thanks in advance.

Lithiumod runs much cooler with p3 kernels. May want to look into that.

Ok, I will check it out after work. Thanks for the quick response.

Alright I loaded up lithiumod w/ Gala theme and loaded the p3 1.1GHz kernel. Launched Psx4droid and the same issue, game froze and phone rebooted after about 2 minutes of play. I was running with setcpu allowing the full 1.1GHz use if needed.

Is anyone else running a 1.1GHz kernel or higher on Droid1?
For the people that have psx4droid running good on their droid can you tell me your settings, rom, and kernel etc.

Thanks

ps1 roms .ape/.cue

Ok, i've looked everywhere for days now and can't find any info on .ape and .cue files. Whether or not they are nessisary to run the game in psx4droid emulator. Here is an example for grand theft auto-

I download the zip, unzip it and get a folder with Grand theft auto.ecm. So i use unecm and make it a bin. But there are tons of files sitting there, and imo those would explain lack of sound.,

Grand Theft Auto.bin
Grand Theft Auto.cue
Grand Theft Auto (Track 02).ape
Then goes all the way to-
Grand Theft Auto (Track 11).ape

So i assume those are all the audio files and the .cue is needed somehow. Help please!

I am one of the fortunate few that can run a LV or ULV kernel up to 1250mhz stable (haven't tried anything faster and 99% of the time setCPU is 250mhz-1000mhz). If you are locking up or noticing drastic heat differences then honestly just clock down to a more stable frequency.

Remember that this is a 550mhz (really 600mhz and underclocked for battery life) factory clocked chip, getting a clock increase of 40%-50% is very rare in the overclocking world and clock freq's of over 1000mhz should not be looked at as the norm.

If you are freezing up after 4 mins of heavy CPU usage and rebooting, you are quickly approaching the danger limit of what your silicon can handle.
