[ROM] [RELEASE] Steel Droid: 5.0 Gingerbread - 1-11-2013

First I want to say THANK YOU for all your work I used custom ROMs on my Droid1 and since i got my Droid3 I've been waiting for one. I followed the instructions, but it seemed to get stuck on running the RSDlite with the xml file, it sees the phone and when I click Start it fails.. only one time it went through step 4 but then it failed..
Do you have any suggestions??

Im not an expert so I don't know what the secret is, but I had to run it probaly 20 times for it to fully execute, sometimes it would fail at step 2 sometimes at step 15.

As I understand Steel Droid, took away my gmail, and the simple solution was to reinstall it from the market, which worked just fine, however, if I go into the data-fetch settings to reduce the fetch frequencey it errors out and force closes, is there a solution for this?

I just found out that when i put m phone in to sleep mode by holding the power button and turn it back on again the phone would not turn back on. I had to take the battery out

which bootstrap do I need. Is it the one from the markeyt called Droid 3 recovery bootstrap. I ask because I also have on my phone the apk for droid 3 bootstrap. thanks

This may be foolish of me to be concerned about but still want to post this...

I was rooted but let the OTA install anyway. No problems. This afternoon, on my lunch hour I picked up this thread and started at re-rooting with Pete's method and Steel Droid installed without a hitch. I have my Gmail, I have my calendar and I don't have any of my bloat. There seem to be several folks posting here that they lost calendar widget functions and Gmail...they had to re-load them from the market.

I wonder what was different between their processes and mine.

I've found one thing's different. I didn't use the correct Bootstrap...I just bought Koush's and it's installing now. I was able to load the Steel Droid ROM just fine with the other version but after it was installed I couldn't get back in to recovery. I'd choose BP Tools and it would sit on the Moto splashscreen... A batter pull and power button got me back in to my phone without a hitch though.

Im working with another developer here to get some other features working. I have my ROM partially themed, and almost ready to go. The upload may or may not happen tonight. I will have to see how much I can get done tonight.

sweeet thanks chevy. With the video of CM7 showing off some rom love I was wondering when we would get a more blurless rom. Thanks for all the work.

Thanks again for the rom. I'm loving the barebonesness of it. It stays streamlined and runs like a beast. Plus my battery is the best it's ever been on any droid with any rom or kernal. Did you under volt the kernal on this or leave it alone? My battery takes a lot longer of continuous use to get warm. Plus I can go 17 hours on a single charge with 8+ hrs of mp3 playback an hour of netflix texting all day a bunch of browser use and rss reading. As apposed to before with bone stock unrooted I went 9 hrs with moderate texting only and have about 40% left. Then rooted and the debloating script ran I could go 9 hrs with moderate texting and 5 hrs mps playback and have about 40-50%

What kind of theme are we looking at? Im dying for a stock gb theme.
