[ROM] [RELEASE] Steel Droid: 5.0 Gingerbread - 1-11-2013

Very excited to 'upgrade' to V 2.0, just for a clear understanding, if I am currently running V 1.0 can I simply download the new version, and use "bootstrap for droid 3" app and hit "reboot in recovery" (perform bootstrap recovery first of course) and select the .zip file and reboot?

That's exactly what I did. First boot still takes a while though, so don't panic.

Yes simply flash over v1 and you should be good to go.

I love the rom, but can't read anything clearly with the font. I can't find any successful ways to revert the font to stock either; there was an old metamorph file that didn't work and a bunch of market programs that keep crashing. Does anyone have any tips??

Thanks a ton, doing it first thing in the morning! Screenshot looks sick.

Thanks again to the people that make the android community what it was meant to be, open source!

Looking forward to the feedback on V 2.0 performance

@ nick and Vincent,
You can download either jrummy's "root tools" or "font installer" to change the font. I believe 1 is free and the other costs $2.

Those were two of the apps that would constantly FC on my phone. Is it just me with that issue?

EDIT: Nvm looks like im having the same issues too. They both worked fine earlier when i was helping test. I've told chevy, and he'll look into it. We should have a fix sometime tomorrow or the following day. In the mean time i'll check the market and see if the other font changer apps work.

Great rom Chevy!!! Only thing I wish i had was the widget (stock that came with droid3) and social networking (must have fore me). I tried copying togglewidget.apk into system/apps with root explorer, changed permissions to the correct settings, and I rebooted. Still wont install. Any way to put those two things i mentioned back in?

If you know what you're doing, use this ( http://209.123.162.66/DroidSans-Bold.ttf ) to replace the one in /system/fonts using a file manager or adb. Reset permissions on the file, reboot, and fonts should be readable again.

I will make a default font zip that flashes back the default font for those that cant read the new one too well. I personally like it, so I included it. lol More fixes will come during the day.

I posted back up v1.0 for those that feel they liked or had better luck with the first release, or want to pull stock parts from 1.0 and put them with 2.0, such as framework-res.apk, or the boot animation...

I'm not sure if you saw my previous post, but i'll ask it again. First of all, thanks again for this release. Very happy you're developing for this phone!!! On another note...how do i get the stock widgets (e.g. wifi, bluetooth, gps...) and social networking back on? As well as the syncing for social networking/gmail.

Edit: Ive tried using root explorer; copied the apks, changed permission, and rebooted. Still nothing

I believe he has them in Flashable zip form in the OP. Download, place on the root of your SD card, boot into Recovery and then flash.

MAKE A BACKUP 1st. Just in case.
