[ROM] [RELEASE] Steel Droid: 5.0 Gingerbread - 1-11-2013

flashed this rom. works great!. only problems i had were:

1. gmail inop. i uninstalled and re-dl'd from market, installed again, and it fixed.

2. no wifi. i cannot connect to any network. i've tried my house network, my brother's tether off his phone, my work network, and my neighbors networks. It just gets stuck at 'obtaining ip', and after about 30 seconds, it goes to "disabled. wps available, secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK". i've tried wps method and passcode methods, but no luck

other than those 2 concerns, this rom is great. (i guess the first ones not an issue cuz it was solved.)

oh yeah, we need themes, and 'hold back button to force close'.

Just flashed the 2.0 rom, had 1.0 for a bit, but I need the email apps. New to roms and whatnot, but it is pretty impressive, nice work chevycam94!

Now the "addons" linked to in the OP, I downloaded all of them to my internal SD card, then installed them the same way I do the rom (from CWM). The universal messaging app works, sort of...

When I open universal messaging, I can access my text messages and facebook, but can't get to any of my email accounts (just FC's out).

I installed all of the addons at once, thought that may be the issue, so I retried them all one at a time, rebooting each time in between. Same result. Anyone have any ideas?

is anyone else having Wifi issues, Definetly a deal breaker for me as the D3 is my first smartphone and got forced into verizon's 2GB data scam

EDIT: I am not experiencing problems, (having installed V 2.0 yet) just gathering intel on the ROM

I haven't tried wifi yet... no wifi that I can connect to here at work. Will try at home and repost.

I've been using wifi all day with no problems so the problem you're experiencing isn't related to the rom.

Agreed, wifi works fine. I did notice some brief overlapping when the 3g icon was replaced with the wifi one other than that works just fine ^.^

Still having email issue, and same issue as above with universal inbox/messaging. Can see corporate synced email come through, but no way to retrieve it to read.

Same problem, no email viewer. I installed MESSAGING from OP but it force closes when I try to use it.
Any Idea's? The font does have some problems. The right side scroller in contacts is weird until you move it a bit. Also the text in a few places needs more padding as it is too close to the edges and at times is slightly cut off.
Other than that, this rom is very nice!!

omg love V 2.0! flawless instal (flashed over V 1.0) Honestly have no complaints, no offense I didn't dig the "steel droid" boot animation, love the new one! Charge animation and 1% battery is awesome! Gmail, SMS, Data, everything works perfect, Still getting a FC when I try and change Data Fetch settings (also happend with V 1.0).

Which screenshot app did you end up using? I tried three different ones and they all end up taking photos like this.

If you know what you're doing, you can grab this:

to replace the one in /system/fonts using a file manager or adb. Reboot, and fonts should be readable again.

i used root explorer to replace the file and a minute or so afterwards, it rebooted on me, then got stuck in a boot loop. what did i do wrong?

I believe following the directions in the OP from step 1 will get you up and running again. Sorry for the trouble. It worked for me...

i'm back up and running it again. but how do i change that font file out w/o bootlooping? i think i forgot to remount ro afterwards. could that be it? i doubt it...

Why no Corporate Love? I love Steel Droid, but I also use my phone for work. The email app and quick office are essential to my everyday use!
