[ROM] [RELEASE] Steel Droid: 5.0 Gingerbread - 1-11-2013

Why no Corporate Love? I love Steel Droid, but I also use my phone for work. The email app and quick office are essential to my everyday use!

QuickOffice FC'ed when I tried to re-install it. :( Bummer. It's the best PDF reader I've been able to find.

Is the Messaging app in the OP under ADDONS what you're looking for? I use K-9 Mail for my work accounts so I don't know about that stuff...

i'm back up and running it again. but how do i change that font file out w/o bootlooping? i think i forgot to remount ro afterwards. could that be it? i doubt it...

No idea :( I used adb to push it to my phone. I googled some only to find that Android is apparently extremely touchy about fonts. Most apps designed specifically for changing fonts cause boot loops much of the time.

Its not the messaging app I need. its the email.apk . It is what allows corporate email. K9mail doesn't come close to what I want, maildroid is closer, but still not as nice of setup. I need corporate email, and calender. And If I don't have quickoffice I'll have a real problem. :(

Well, holy ****. I just installed Quickoffice.apk with adb and it worked. I pulled it out of the backup I made from before I flashed. (/system/app/Quickoffice.apk in system.ext3.tar)

Yeah, I'm working on doing the same. I've already done the quickoffice, but now that I've added BlurEmail.apk back and the Calender stuff back, when I check my email it is showing that I have the account added, but when I go to accounts the account isn't there and I don't have my corporate calender either. I need to straighten this out :(. We need a corporate addon that includes quickoffice and blur email and calender.

For those of you who can't wait for the addon, You can go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289611 and download the debloated deodexed stock from Rootwikiz (ROM 3 on the list) and use the files in /system/app put the ones you need on your sdcard and use root explorer or some file manager to move them to /system/app .

I've used Jrummy's Root Tools to change the font on the D3 and Bionic so far with no issues, but I haven't done it with Steel Droid yet. Otherwise, use Root Explorer to move the fonts you want to system/fonts and reset the permissions, reboot and it's done. The fonts to change are DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf.

Does it look like there will be a fix for the battery percentage? I know its no big deal at all, but i do have a lil ocd... so far so good though! No noticeable bugs yet (aside from the percentage thing). Good work!

I was able to get the battery indicator to reach 100. I'm not saying I actually did anything. But I was trying a 3g unthrottle hack. Had my phone plugged into my laptop during the process and it actually charged to 100. Presently its charging w/o being connected to my laptop. Its presently at 88. If/when it gets to 100 percent I will update.

Update. Battery indicator is now showing 100%. Like I said earlier don't know how this came about exactly but I'm glad to see it nonetheless as previously I was only seeing 99% earlier in the day.

Finally fixed email fc issue... The apk you need in /system/app is BlurEmail.apk (not to be confused with blur_email.apk). I used root explorer, copied it over, set permissions, rebooted and email appeared in apps menu and also stopped fc issues when opening from "Messaging".

On another note, could the battery percentage issues be related to an old batterystats.bin? I've had my charge go up to 100% on a few occasions and have deleted the file... its merely speculation, but maybe that's why some say fully charged when <100%?

You mean deleting the the file through cwmr? I used battery calibration app and even when its 'fully charged', it still says 96 (where i max aat. I've restored my old themed stock odexed nandroid and will restore my steel nandroid when someone can figure out a fix to this
Edit: it says 96% on the app
