[ROM] [RELEASE] Steel Droid: 5.0 Gingerbread - 1-11-2013

Hi folks

I installed 4.6 SteelDroid rom a few weeks back and let me start by just staying that it is AWESOME! I have tried Liberty ROM earlier and also Cyanogen 9. I removed Cyanogen since it was not all that stable and also missed one of the coolest feature I loved about Android - Facebook contact sync! However, it appears to me that facebook contact sync is not working in Steeldroid either. In my Contacts app, I have added my facebook account and the "Sync Contacts" check box is enabled. And even if I manually try to sync my contacts by saying "Sync Now", although my phone shows the syncing icon, it does it for a few seconds and thats it. I do not see any facebook contacts on my phone. Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong here? Any help is appreciated! Again thanks for the ROM.

hey i was wondering if anybody had their phone freeze when using SetCPU? i honestly thought I had bricked my phone until i randomly decided to disable it and the freezing stopped

install google maps then hit navigation...it will install it for you

Not sure if this will help but what FB app are you using? You might want to try wiping cache or maybe even data and redoing your settings again.
I didn't have this issue but again every phone is different.

Try going to contacts. Setting> Display > from here you will see where your contacts are coming from, there should be in addition to your gmail account, your Facebook account should be there as well. You should be able to add your FB contacts from there.

I have tried that numerous times with no luck. I have enabled facebook contacts to display in my contacts. Thanks for ur help so far.

Hmmm I don't know what to tell you. Facebook is kinda funny sometimes. Have you thought about trying another ROM?
If you have said this already forgive me..have you uninstalled Facebook app and tried again?
Also maybe try messaging Chevy if you want to stay with this ROM.

Yes. I was on liberty rom, after which I tried cyanogenmod9 (ics), and currently on steel droid. Facebook sync worked fine on liberty, and i think ics does not support facebook sync so i didnt like it much. Currently I m using steeldroid4.6 on safestrap and in fact my facebooksync works just fine on the stock rooted rom. Thanks I will email Chevy.

gonna take longer then I thought, SD has the needed system APK's but it doesn't seem to want to sync the stuff. Will have to dive deeper after the 4th, been pretty heavy use on my phone and had to swap back to SDv5.6. lol I won't forget bout you though!

Help total newbie but intelligent lol i am so new to this have spent two hours reading forum searching for a an answer to this i was given my dads droid 3 i called verizon to set up prepaid was very rudley told i had to buy a new phone as i cant do prepaid with this so i asked about the contract they want and they were as sweet as pie until i explained 145 amonth was too high then the nasty came out in her she said i was just out of luck and my like new droid 3 was a door stopper and laughed and hung up on me sooooooo just need to know from people here can i use this if i root and rom on other providers or is it really just junk my dad said they told him it was unlocked.i hope i'm posting in right forum and thank you
