Remix Tablet: Kickstarter with a twist

No luck here either. Would suck for them if they put their foot in their mouth at this point in the game.

I'm holding out hope that it will be and that I can snag one for $40. Even if it's not that great, I think the price is right for a new toy and I'm interested to see what their custom UI can really do to change the game. I was really interested in that project that we had a thread for on here that didn't end up getting the funding. I forget what it's called right now, but it was a similar concept, but required you to hook up to a monitor/tv and keyboard and mouse to get the full effect and ran off your phone. Having a standalone and portable device that can be all tablety when needed, but then work as more of a netbook appeals to me greatly.

I believe I already commented, but the ASUS Transformer Prime was a nice little device with the keyboard and trackpad attached, but, in the end, it was still just an android tablet. This, I hope, is a bit more than that.

If they hit 3,000 members, they'll let us know exactly how many $39 tablets they have available.

Another update promised in about an hour and a half. Guess I'll be staying close to my office today...Haha!

And now they're stressing that they have limited quantities at each tier level on KS. Makes total sense, but makes you worry about how many and what the tier levels will be. As I've stated, I'd love to give this thing a crack for $40, but I'm not exactly sure where my ceiling is before I don't think it's worth the price to be an early adopter and given the specs that we've seen listed.

I want the tablet for $39 period. I don't care what limitations the device has. If anything, I'll use it for web browsing only. Still worth it.

Thanks for the regular updates @Jonny Kansas

$60. Not saying that's mine, I'm saying that's where we should stop throwing money at these people for what will probably be a seriously-bungled kickstarter campaign. They're going to "sell out" in five minutes and then spend a month trying to hawk their (in my opinion, overpriced) tablet, and then probably complain when 90% of the people who bought one at a super-steep discount don't participate in the "community" they're trying to build.

After all, the whole point of this was to get early adopters so they can work on improving the user experience for their Lollipop "Remix".

I think $60 is actually pretty close to where I'm at. I might be willing to go to $100, but no more than that to be a guinea pig. I'd be happy to offer feedback on the device if I don't pay a premium to get one, but the higher the price, the less bugs and more "it just works" I'll expect. The number that they offer at discounted prices vs their projected full retail price may sway me one way or another as well. I get that they're trying to get funding, so they can't take a major loss on too many of the devices, but if you're going to hype something up this hard, you better be able to back it up.

I'll understand if I don't snag one for $40, but I hope they've got more tiers below their MSRP, or I don't see them making many donations beyond the sell out of the initial wave of discounted tablets.

Most of the chatter as I skim the Facebook group page is about people wanting to get one for $40. The concept behind the whole thing seems to be secondary, just as it is here.

I'm looking at this as an Android-powered netbook, though the "keyboard" may suck more heiny than a plastic surgeon in South Beach. Yes, it would be nice to get one for $40. I SERIOUSLY doubt I'll get one for less than $60 and that's as far as I can go. If the price of admission is helping them with a "most wanted" feature list, then I'll participate. But that's why they shouldn't have gone to FACEBOOK to try and drum up interest.

A bigger nest of cheapskates, thieves, and low-lifes you won't find this side of Tor. ;)

Well, maybe on Topix or StormFront, but that's a different matter.
