[ROM] ApeX 1.2 Series for Droid X - Functionality and Performance (12/7/10)

Wow, this is fastest ROM I have used so far. And I like the screen transitions so much better than Rumm Rx. And I love being able to quickly switch from Blur to AOSP apps. This is literally exactly what I wanted. Great work!

Can anybody tell me like what a good battery temperature is for an overclock? Right now I'm running the medium overclock and I ran a Stress Test for the market for about 8 minutes without any reboots or anything and now my battery temp is at 36

I don't really want to rely on my actual touch to the phone because of course I'm going to be looking for overheating so much that I could probably find it even if it's not there

Also does restarting the phone get rid of the overclock if it was only applied for a single session?

EDIT: Haven't been running the stress test for a minute or so now and battery temp is dropping which I'm assuming is a good sign, I'm not really interested in overclock at boot because I don't find it to be a chore to just quickly apply what I want I just want to make sure I don't fry my phone

That battery temperature is fine. Rarely will you stress your phone as much as that test anyways. If you're seeing temps above 40, then maybe it's time for concern (though I go above that frequently when using nav)

I believe the battery is rated to 60C...

Anyways, if you use overclock -apy, that is for a single session only, and will not be there when you reboot.

Happy overclocking! :D

are there any themes for this rom???

His power has been out so he cant use his desktop to get the theme converted.. however he is hoping to get his power going again soon.. he is on his Macbook Pro (Badass computer on mine right now :icon_ banana:) and cant theme very well with just thinkpad.

Yeah I was playing Call of Duty and let it sit and it dropped all the way down to 27, then I ran a Quadrant Standard and scored 1100.. ran it again and scored near 1700's which I've been getting with the -moc

I'm assuming since the gov is set to on demand it wasnt fully clocking itself after sitting around which is why I got the 1100 but when I ran it again it bumped itself back up

I've noticed that I seem to get hit with some serious lag here and there...for the most part its smooth, but every so often a scroll will be super choppy...its better after removing ADW, but still not great...I love the feel of this rom though...this rom combined with Runic speed, and there'd be nothing else worth even considering! Anyway, I also gotta say aside from the lovely rom, awesome customer service! (whatever the proper word is, Haha!)

Indeed...I use the app No Lock free from Market, this way I can avoid the lock screen altogether

Yes I have this very issue with 1.2... Lockbar is laggy sometimes but not bad but when the phone sits long enough for the screen to turn off it lags when it first comes back on and then is fine. Not sure what is up with that. If you want this rom combined with Rubix speed then try DarkSlide (crackman's rom). I'm eagerly awaiting the release for the leak and am starting to get very impatient lol.

With that said, the new Apex is a huge step forward from 1.0 and I think once Fab works out a few kinks it may very well be THE rom of choice for keeping all the functionality of the X while getting rid of the junk and speeding it up. This is why I'm still going with Tranquility 3.5 until I can get DS 3.3 and try that. I'll for sure give Apex 1.2.1 another go around, this time from a fresh wipe. I cam from 1.1 to 1.2 then to 1.2.1 so I might have gotten something lost in translation somewhere...

Well, I'm still on 2.3.15, didn't touch the leak at all...so anyhow...this is the first of Fab's roms i've tried on the X, but he definitely has my respect! I do have one question: can i pull the aosp keyboard from any other rom and install here? Would it work? I'm not too big on the multi-touch for several reasons...

Never hurts to try!

I'm having some random FC issues...namely the market on occasion and Bookmarks to SD sync.
