[ROM] ApeX 1.2 Series for Droid X - Functionality and Performance (12/7/10)

I've never Overclocked before and I installed the milestone app, the phone seems to work fine at 1300 MHz and 80 LV

I'm assuming that that is 1.3 GHz, I had it up to 1.4GHz to run a quadrant test which worked and then I bumped it up to 1.45 and it black screened and I had to battery pull.

Right now I'm running a 1.25 GHz with a 70 LV, but how can I know that it's not harmful to my phone?

Like everything is running fine but is there any free app to measure the internal temperature of the phone and what are the acceptable temps?

And how long should I run the overclock without any problems before I apply it from boot?

Usually excessive heat and lockups are a sign that your OC isn't faring well. My phone is so picky I can't push it beyond stock speeds without it freezing and rebooting. I can usually tell after a couple of games of jewels or something similar if the OC settings are going to fly or not. Just my experience but I'm sure others have some better advice and/or tools.

****kk the stock messenger app does sync the pictures but when i went to drag it onto the home screen it ****in replaced the app drawer button and i don't know how to get that back .. i reset adw and it still didnt work

hehe, no worries, just add a 'custom shortcut' and pick activity launcher actions, and open/close drawer

then you can drag that down and place it in the middle again.

Ok, it'll be a piece of cake to readd that feature. I'll just have it off by default.

Also, I purchased JRummy's OC app for 2.2.1, so I'm gonna kang some of his OC profiles hehehe :)

Hey, will milestone OC app from market, if used, screw up your tweaks in anyways.

Maybe if you use it to set an overclock at boot, it may overwrite my install-recovery.sh file. In that file, I set some things like autokiller preferences, cpu sampling frequency, etc.

I know for a fact that JRummy's app does overwrite that file.

Ok maybe I'm just missing something simple but the fix for the contacts isn't working for me. I download the .apk file and go into terminal and type in

su
install BLurContacts.apk

Then the following prompts appear...

cp: can't stat '/sdcard/BlurContacts.apk' : No such file or directory

And then right under that it will say...

BlurContacts.apk has been installed to system courtesy of Fabulous

Don't understand how it can say it can't be found and then it will immediately say it's installed.
I then go press the contacts button, click on a contact, and boom! Right back to the home screen. :icon_eek:

Yeah, it'll say installed regardless of whether it did or not. It's assuming it found the file :D

That error means you don't actually have the file on your sdcard. You need to have BlurContacts.apk on the root of your sdcard (not in any folders), and it has to end with .apk (a lot of browsers will incorrectly append a .zip or change it to .zip, you'll have to rename it back)

Anyways, I'll have an updated file with the fix incorporated later tonight. I'm just about to get off work :D

Thank for the quick response man. ApeX 1.2 is the best ROM on 2.3.320. I tried RubiX 1.9.3 and Tranquility 3.5 but ApeX >> Rubix >> Tranq
I dont need to OC. But if I do just for the current session (not setting on boot), will it mess up ur twaeks. Just wanted to make before trying anything nasty. I am already happy with battery life. With really heavy use it is still on 60% after 8hrs :icon_ banana:
