[ROM] ApeX 1.2 Series for Droid X - Functionality and Performance (12/7/10)

Fab, this rom is ABSOLUTELY FABOULOUS. Straight up Slam Dunk. I just can from the latest Rubix and I thought it was great.got bored with it and moved to DarkSlide, used that for a few hours. I happened to be on the DF app and read all the wonderful reviews. Then I happened to watch the you tube clip and fell in love with it. At first, I thought it was only for the leak but read the first post and went nutz when I saw there were 2 versions. Donation coming soon WELL deserved. All I need to do now, is to finagle the contact apk thing (never used emulator before). Hope I get it right! btw, am def a theme kat and hope you or a themer have a theme planned for this SUPER DUPER, SIK, FLAWLESS rom.

Ok, it'll be a piece of cake to readd that feature. I'll just have it off by default.

Also, I purchased JRummy's OC app for 2.2.1, so I'm gonna kang some of his OC profiles hehehe :)

Hey, will milestone OC app from market, if used, screw up your tweaks in anyways.

Maybe if you use it to set an overclock at boot, it may overwrite my install-recovery.sh file. In that file, I set some things like autokiller preferences, cpu sampling frequency, etc.

I know for a fact that JRummy's app does overwrite that file.

Interesting info...I installed jrummy's almost immediately to undervolt. Could you expound on the performance impacts overwriting your install-recovery may have? Can you think of any way to keep your version?

It actually doesn't do that much, just applies an autokiller setting to keep 60m free at all times, changes the sampling rate to 32000ms and the up threshold to 50.

All of that can be recreated using Autokiller and SetCPU

Though depending on the profile you're using in JRummy, I may have the fix for you in just a bit, as I've put overclocking back in to the 2.3.15 version (ignore if you have 2.3.320)

It'll come with two profiles at 400/700/900/1100 at ulv and lv, 400/700/900/1250 at lv, and 400/700/900/1380 at mv.

I should have the file uploaded in 10 mins, need someone on 2.3.15 to test it first though, before I post it in the OP. Just need to confirm the contacts fc was fixed and that the OC script works. There'll be no need to wipe data coming from 1.0.2.1

Thanks!

Bummer I started this discussion and m on 2.3.320 lol

Can someone running 1.0.2.1 do me a favor? Install this newer version here:

http://fabdroid.com/downloads/Fabolous_ApeX_V1_0_2_2.zip

There's no need to wipe data.

And can you confirm that:

1. The contacts FC is fixed
2. In terminal emulator, if you type:

su
overclock

you get a lot of instructions, and if you're brave, apply a profile ;)

Thanks!

Installed:
1. Contacts open without FC
2. Applied -ulv for this session

Ran cpuinfo to verify oc was taken and have just played a single screen of Angry Birds with no issues!

Contacts open w/out FC as stated by Jhan..Now for Themes Fab:)

Good news! I'll update the OP with the new links and some instructions on how to OC.

In terms of the themes, I'm still waiting on the electrician to get here to fix the power in my room so I can use my desktop. Otherwise, all I have is my Macbook and my Thinkpad, and I'm not quite sure how long it'll take me to do the themes on this Thinkpad :/

@Fabolous

My DX came with Android 2.2 v2.3.15. I flashed my first ROM, the rubiX Blurry 1.5.2 and when I checked my settings it said I was on Android 2.2 v2.3.15. Yesterday I flashed this rubiX Blurry 1.6.3 ANDROID DOES EXCLUSIVE and now it says I'm on Android 2.2.1 v2.3.20. How is that possible, I never flashed the new SBF leak file?

Is there a difference between 2.3.20 & 2.3.320? Or did he just edit the build.prop and rename the os and build #?

This is getting confusing for myself and a bunch of other users that I know, any help would be appreciated!

Thanks -BUD

I'll just say one thing. 2.3.320 has the new bootloader and kernel but 2.3.20 is just another tweak and based off 2.3.15. 2.3.20 still has the OTA kernel and bootloader same as 2.3.15. So whenever you see 2.3.20 and unless its a typo you can be sure that whatever compatible with 2.3.15 is compatible with 2.3.20. All rubix focused except 1.9.3 is based off and requires 2.3.15.

Ok, the easiest way to tell which version to download is to go to your settings, about phone, and kernel version.

If it matches the one in my screenshot, install 1.2.x, if not, install 1.0.2.x

Also, the newest version for 2.3.15 is 1.0.2.2, I just uploaded that about 10 minutes ago.

We did check settings, thats the first thing we did. Our phones say Android 2.2.1 v2.3.20. The ROM I was on before said Android 2.2 v2.3.15.

What the heck is 2.3.20? I thought the 2 versions out are 2.3.15 and leaked 2.3.320?

No, I don't mean the build version. That doesn't matter, it's the KERNEL version that matters. Just ignore the build version, check if your kernel matches or not. That's all that matters.

And if you really wanna know, 2.3.20 is a D2 build that was ported to DX. It still uses the same kernel as 2.3.15 though.
