[ROM] ApeX 1.2 Series for Droid X - Functionality and Performance (12/7/10)

@Fabolous

My DX came with Android 2.2 v2.3.15. I flashed my first ROM, the rubiX Blurry 1.5.2 and when I checked my settings it said I was on Android 2.2 v2.3.15. Yesterday I flashed this rubiX Blurry 1.6.3 ANDROID DOES EXCLUSIVE and now it says I'm on Android 2.2.1 v2.3.20. How is that possible, I never flashed the new SBF leak file?

Is there a difference between 2.3.20 & 2.3.320? Or did he just edit the build.prop and rename the os and build #?

This is getting confusing for myself and a bunch of other users that I know, any help would be appreciated!

Thanks -BUD

Ok, the easiest way to tell which version to download is to go to your settings, about phone, and kernel version.

If it matches the one in my screenshot, install 1.2.x, if not, install 1.0.2.x

Also, the newest version for 2.3.15 is 1.0.2.2, I just uploaded that about 10 minutes ago.

We did check settings, thats the first thing we did. Our phones say Android 2.2.1 v2.3.20. The ROM I was on before said Android 2.2 v2.3.15.

What the heck is 2.3.20? I thought the 2 versions out are 2.3.15 and leaked 2.3.320?

No, I don't mean the build version. That doesn't matter, it's the KERNEL version that matters. Just ignore the build version, check if your kernel matches or not. That's all that matters.

And if you really wanna know, 2.3.20 is a D2 build that was ported to DX. It still uses the same kernel as 2.3.15 though.

I just took a screen shot for you, its easier. Why would he change the build number and android version?

I dont know if i am just having a brain freeze or if i honestly am missing the point here.

Kernel Version = 2.6.32.9-gfb07887w30471@il93nxdroid08#1
Android Version = 2.2.1
System Version = Version.2.3.20.MB810.Verison.en.us

What Version of the ROM do i want.. im assuming the NON-Leaked 2.3.320 Correct? so i would want Apex 1.0.2.x Yes???

b/c im not on 2.2.1 or 2.3.20, which is not even a real build number?

Yeah, that's the OTA kernel, you want 1.0.2.x

The only people who need to install 1.2.x are the ones who have the exact same Kernel Version as in the screenshots.

@budmonster, he probably changed the Android version to 2.2.1 since it uses 2.2.1 apps. Regardless, those numbers are irrelevant in the context of installing this ROM, you only need to worry about your kernel version :p

Yeah. That rubix version uses framework/stuff from 2.2.1/2.3.20...and for the sake of progress, i guess drod chose to make it appear as such in the system info. However, You didn't flash a new OS/leak/whatever to install that rom, and thus your underlying android version (IE kernel/bootloader) is 2.3.15 (assuming you got the OTA).

so my kernel should be 2.6.32.9-gfb07887w30471@il93nxdroid08#1 on every rom?

EDIT: on every rom that is 3.15

It may be more simple to say that unless you have purposefully gone through the process of applying the Blur_2.3.320_System_2.2.1.zip, then you are still on 2.3.15 and will need to use the the 1.0.2.x ApeX versions, regardless of what any of those fields contain.

No, the kernel won't change. It's separate from the ROM. The only way for your kernel to change is if you've flashed the 2.3.320 leak.

The only 2 current roms available are 2.3.15 and 2.3.320. I have tried every 2.3.15 rom available, the install instructions are very clear as to which version or versions are available. You should never run into an issue if u just use 2.3.15 roms. Hope that set your mind at ease at least a little.

thanks guys, i understand now. i had a brain freeze and just couldnt grasp it lol.

btw the rom is awesome, fast as hell and love the additions! is there anyway to port over certain mods? like how the cm6 rom for the d1 had the power widgets when you pulled down the notification bar. or when you press the power button it has the reboot, reboot into recovery options?

one more thing. on every other rom the market automatically installed my apps, why didnt it do it on this rom? i had to install youtube, astro, etc. is there a way to turn it off and on?

again, excellent job!

Can anybody confirm that on the 2.3.15 version two that the contact photos sync and sync with the messaging app?

I'm probably just going to flash it anyways since I don't have to wipe or anything

Ok so i flashed it and i must say its really nice.. im liking it.. however a couple questions.

Can i download from Rom Manager i think its WJDesigns? Black photo widget and gallery mod?

And can i install a Black Themed Swype?
