[ROM] ApeX V2.0.0 Release Candidate (RC2) (6/11/2011)

lost home key functionality

Had it happen once with RC1 & now again with RC2. Home key just won't do anything. It won't navigate to home on push or bring up recent apps on hold. It won't even light up. Re-flashing fixes.

I thought that post said those zips weren't flashable, the blur ones. I thought we had to extract and mount r/w cp etc. I used a file manager to install the apk's included without any issues.

What file manager did you use

Actually at first I used the one that comes with apex. It's in your app drawer called "file manager" I use that to install root explorer, astro, and File Expert. File Expert is a nice free w/o ads File manager for Android. Has a lot of features that other managers have that you have to pay for. I

Has anyone used samba shares from their Droid. I have several external drives I need my droid to connect to. Host is WIN7/KXstudio (kubuntu linux w/ a ton of compiled audio apps that aren't in Medibuntu, or Ubuntu Studio). At any rate, I was able to do this with stock rooted froyo, but since using the various breads over the past few months, I have been unable to connect with either astro or File Expert. I could use either of these with froyo to connect to shares on the network. I have used all the Libertys from .5-.7 and Apex beta, RC1, and now RC2. Anyone else have this issue?

If I install and backup liberty. Whould I be able to flash back and fourth from this to that.... without looping or any problems..?

Should work fine. Just wipe before you restore. Only thing that wont stick is the boot logo..

I have never had so many issues trying to get a ROM. I have had APEX before and I loved it, but between the OTA GB update, flashing back to Froyo, downloading the two .zips to get to .596, I simply cannot get this to work. At this point, I am having trouble getting my phone to function rooted on Froyo so I can get back to my backed up ROM.

I guess I jumped the gun on this one.

Maybe if you listed more specific examples it would be easier for us to help? What exactly is going wrong?

I just installed this coming from Liberty v.8, my Quadrant score with Liberty was 1565, and with Apex its 1682..runs real nice...great features.

I was wondering why the full num pad isn't visible during phone activation or programming? I know you can press the menu button and get the num pad on the keyboard but the numbers don't always get detected when pressing them. Will this be fixed?

I'm also on base band BP_C_01.09.07p and Kernel v 2.6.32.9-g0bae333qgd748 and its working just fine.

Anyways i use to code back in the days of AOL 1.5-4.0 making progs,I created Final Fantasy v1.-3.0 so i know the time and effort it takes to do this stuff and it's much appreciated.

So I read a bunch of things - I have never had to post anything on any site because I'm usually not this retarded and can follow instructions even though I don't know anything about rooting or mods or blah blah blah.

Anywho, nothing I have read has told me how to update the stupid baseband and kernel to the proper versions in order to get them working before I "flash" or whatever Apex 2.0. I am so frustrated I am ready to kill a small child, instead of looking any more. I'm sure it's right under my nose, but it's stumped me. Please help, before a small innocent child has to suffer the wrath of my annoyance. Thank you to anyone who replies.

I should probably note my current versions, although I'm sure some of you could have deduced it by now.

System : 2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US (.596 waiting in the wings)
Baseband : BP_C_01.09.07p
Kernel :

2.6.32.9-g55626e1

The baseband and kernel cannot be updated individually.. they are updated when you update to gingerbread. Check out the link above ;)

I had the Darkslide 4.2 ROM and I took the OTA GB update - I know, dumb, but I figured I could just go back, since I have the .340 SBF and a Nandroid backup. Anyway, this how I proceeded AFTER the OTA GB update:

I used the .340 SBF file to go back to stock. I then rooted my phone. Then I rebooted into recovery and used method 2 to install both zip files before leaving recovery.

I verified the correct specs. I then booted into recovery and installed Apex, and it bootlooped infinitely. I pulled the battery and rebooted with the same results.

Clearly, I have made an error, and I would love it if anyone had an idea where I failed. TIA :)
