[ROM] [BETA] CyanogenMod 7 for Droid 2

i just realized there isnt a market place :(

You have to load Google Apps, aka Gapps...there is a download in ROM Manager - Select:

- Download ROM
- Googe Apps
- Choose 20110307 Universal (2nd on list)

And it will install Google Apps, including the Market, then you still need to get Gmail from the market after the market is installed...

That's how all CM ROMs work - Google Apps (commonly referred to as "Gapps") are not included in the main ROM build, so it's always flashed as a separate add-on.

So version 12 is closer to a beta release?

Updated from my GingerHoney LGBD2 @ 1.2 GHz

Build 12 is very solid, feels like a "real" release, with minor issues (video camera quality isn't top-notch, for USB mount connectivity you have to insert the usb cable to your pc, pull it, and then reinsert, autobrightness might be a little limited, and there may be some bluetooth connectivity issues...other than that I can't think of anything significant. It is fast, stable, and completely usable as a daily driver.

Why?

ROM Manager is included with the CM ROM - simply launch it and make the selections I noted to install Gapps. Then download GMail from the Market and you're good...

Dont' get why you're stopping now. You're 95% of the way there...

No, the bootloader is still locked. They got around it by basing CM4D2 on the Froyo kernel. That's why you have to sbf before installing it.

The bootloader being locked simply means you can't load a new kernel.

What about gingerbread then? Does it come with a new kernel or does it use the froyo kernel?

GB has its own kernel.

Then two things. If the gingerbread uses a different kernel than froyo, how is it able to get past the locked bootloader? And why dont they base CM4 off of gingerbread?

I'd refer you to an expert:

also so their is no more confusion this uses the froyo kernel that is why you have to flash back before you can get the latest and greatest from the development community.

I'm glad so many have enjoyed the work this team has put into getting all the hardware functioning correctly :)

I understand I need to wipe before I flash new builds in order to give proper bug reports. But my work week has started, so I don't want to go thru that whole process untill my weekend starts. Has anyone had any problems flashing build 13 over 12?

If you have no intention of bug hunting then you can move from build to build without wiping.

Well I do intend to bug hunt. But I'll do so when I have the time to wipe/flash and re setup my desktop. Thing that makes that whole process a hassle (and this was happening on other roms as well), is after a complete wipe, whenre setting things up, there are lots of required reboots, and my phone has this problem where after a reboot, the screen may not turn back on and then there are a lot of battery pulls....blah blah blah. /whine
Would results of an flash with out a wipe be of interest?
