[ROM] [BETA] CyanogenMod 7 for Droid 2

From what I understand (and that's not a lot), data from one rom to another sometimes doesn't play well. I think this pertains mainly to system Apps (which I don't restore anyway). Even so, to play it safe, unless I really need the data from a given app (angry birds etc..), I just restore the app. I don't mind having to enter my email address again or whatever I lost by not restoring data. That's just how I do it. I'm sure it's not absolutely necessary. Either is mounting system before installing a rom, but I do it anyway. To be honest, I jump around roms all the time and have not had to sbf once. Not one bootloop. 0 issues with cm7 so far. So, I just keep doing the same thing to keep my sanity

That pretty much covers it. Data does not always play well when transferred from one ROM to another. It can cause issues which would otherwise not be present. As Idopa said, this happens most commonly with system apps, but it has been known to happen with certain user apps as well.

It is also always a good idea to reboot after restoring apps and/or data. Some of the data will not be loaded into the app correctly until a reboot occurs. And as I said earlier, I ended up with issues when I first restored data on CM7, but a wipe of cache and dalvik cache took care of my issues. So if you do end up with issues after restoring apps or data, first reboot, then if it still persists, try wiping cache and dalvick cache.

Hey @ idopa...How's the nightlies? I'm sitting in the doc office.lol wondering if I can just wipe dalvick and cache and hit it?right like I always do? And mount as always? And I wonder if rom manager will work now. It didn't on gingy? Lol

Not sure with rom manager. I don't really use it. Just hold power until reboot shows up. Then hit recovery. Wipe cache, dalvik. Mount system and install. Reboot. That will do it.

I thought there was a changelog page for each device. So the things listed on build 20 don't pertain to our phone?
It's kinda misleading because there is a section for each device. I thought the d2 page would list the d2 changelog.
Thanks for the clarification!

My expectation was that you'd only see device-specific updates on the individual device pages, and they wouldn't appear on any of the other device pages, but then you'll see things like this "LGEStarRIL: fix NITZ for p990" listed in build 18 on our page, but it's for the p990...

They do appear to mix things together on those pages, but I also see difference across devices - for example, compare build 20 between us and the Morrison (Morrison adds "Modified recovery_ui.c Fixed keymapping for the recovery").

Unless I see something interesting or have a bug I want fixed, I don't see a need to flash daily.

This is probably true. I think I'm just an addict. I welcome any excuse to boot into recovery and flash a zip. I'm a rom junkie. Each morning I wake up to a nightly (my "fix"). I know. I need help. Haha

Big important question I've been thinking about!! What happens if you want to go to gingerbread leak, or froyo rom, when you falshed the all in one?? What are we on as far as real firmaware? I know we are 2.3.4 but just curious how this all in one settles as a firmware either froyo or gingerbread?? Any takers?? Lol

It's based off the froyo kernel so I assumed technically we're on froyo. Maybe I'm wrong? Not that I'm thinking of going anywhere with a great rom like this.
