[ROM] [ROM] Droid Concepts Froyo Releases [BETA versions]

this doesnt have those settings built in.....yet, woodyman is building his own rom settings from the ground up! when its done im sure it will be amazing although this isnt a gingerbread rom so you shouldnt need to lock the mms app in memory, ive never had issues with it on froyo, and have never locked mine in memory on froyo, obviously i cannot speak for you if you need to you need to just trying to help :)

Thanks for the info. I have been running UD froyo and needed to lock it in memory... I'll give this one a try and see what happens...

Sounds good. I really just wanted to make sure I wasn't overwriting a newer, better settings.apk. If it just added the search options, no big deal. Thanks
Ok well on my study break I just looked and I found this,
https://github.com/android/platform...mmit/50c529220a8af165df92f4aa6a52c3eec60282ee

basically this is saying that they removed the serch option from settings because they moved the search options into the search app itself, I bet this was done because the search app was always included from the manufacture, but now it is available in the market, so they moved it to the app so its always there, this way its not codependent on whether or not it is listed in the users settings app from their manufacture. if that makes sense, and because I now know that its in the search app I will more than likely not bring the search option back into the stock settings app just as a heads up.

Yes, all that is one feature that will be included, havn't started much on the app with finals this week, but will get into it heavily next week, looking foward to seeing your theme, you should post some screens.. :)

just loaded build #6, and a test run of my new theme, all is working well! great job woody!

just curious, in the future will there be the option to change notification colors perhaps in your dc settings apk? not a big deal just wondering because the green text doesnt jive with my theme lol and ive never modded a services.jar before

Like previously stated, you shouldn't need to lock your messaging app into memory, but thats always a feature I can add to the ROM as I build the rom specific settings, and also like i just said, not doing anything really this week because of finals, but i will get into it next week, so build 07 will include the built in settings, it wont have many features, but I will be there..

I must be missing something... I cannot for the life of me find additional, rom-only settings...

One thing I depend on is locking my messaging app in memory and I cannot find this anywhere! Is there not a rom specific settings app, or am i losing it?

Kratos

Yeah they removed it because they moved it to the app itself. Now if you want you can add a different settings app to put it back, but with the next build DC Settings will be built into the settings app so if you replace it you will not have DC Settings available.

I only replaced my settings in favor of the HTC-themed one I linked to earlier. I have no interest in the Search options, but it was included with the themed FRG22 settings.

Oh, I see. I thought your settings would be in a separate apk. Is it all contained with the settings.apk or is it simply only linked to and accessible via the settings menu? I guess it would not be a separate apk, otherwise it would be available in the app drawer.

Ok, thanks. I think the reason I needed to lock it into memory before was because of the ROM itself. I remember trying out CM froyo a while back and had to lock it into memory as well. Since UD is, rather heavily, based off CM, I think that that may be the reason I needed it.

I have been texting periodically since I flashed your ROM last night and, thus far, have not had any issues with messaging.

One thing I noticed is that almost all of my music is unplayable. I keep getting errors stating that the file may be corrupt or missing. I checked and the files are all listed. I then copied about 15 of them to my friends computer (he doesn't have any of the songs I copied) and was able to play them just fine with both WMP and iTunes. I'm thinking that there may be something wrong with something in the ROM that is making three different music apps think the files are either corrupt or missing. Not a huge deal as I know it will be figured out one way or another, but just wanted to let you know.

Otherwise, I'm loving this ROM! It is very smooth and fluid. Thank you for being the only Dev willing to continue with Froyo. All the other have moved on to GB and my phone just plain doesn't work properly on GB.

How exactly are you accessing them? Open player, choose file or browse to file, choose player? Just curious, though I cannot confirm any issue on mine, trying both methods and using both the stock music player and an alternative. I wonder if it would help to clear data for your music app?

Ditto!!

I tried playing them with the stock music player, cubed, and tunewiki. I opened the players and chose the song. I will attempt to navigate to the file with root explorer and see if I can open it that way. I didn't think of doing that.

I didn't think of clearing data and cache for the music players. I will try that as well and see what happens.

Well I have already themed build 07 for the HTC style settings app, so thats done, as for the built in settings, it will be accessible via the built in AOSP settings, and it may also have a launcher shortcut, how it is set up now it will show in the launcher, but that may or may not be removed.

Yeah they removed it because they moved it to the app itself. Now if you want you can add a different settings app to put it back...

This is a new thing I'm hearing about.. lol, I haven't personally had any issues playing back music via the stock app, I don't use an alternative so I can not account for those apps, I would try clearing the data for the apps, and if that doesn't work reflash the ROM, with a good wipe of /system and /data a few times. The only thing I could think of is if your using the 3.0 Music app in the optional apps zip, if your using that try going back to the original, and if your not using it maybe you should give it a try just because.. lol

Another great job man thanks. Just a couple requests if they aren't to much trouble. I have a MM round battery icon that I like using but since the status bar battery icons are only every 20% instead of tens not all the icons show up. And just wondering if comp cache was in the works for the future. Thanks for all your hard work and good luck on your finals.

Using build 6 with stock kernel I can't seem to get things download via the browser (stock or otherwise) while on WiFi - haven't tried it on 3G yet. Anyone else getting this? I keep getting download unsuccessful ...

EDIT: New kernel, same results ... tried WiFi and 3G

EDIT 2: OK, this mornings failed attempts were with stock browser and skyfire. Just installed dolphin browser and things are downloading fine.

This ROM is running GREAT!! No real hiccups (aside from the download weirdness) and fantastic battery life thus far.

Keeping it at 600 cause it seems to be doing just fine for me so far at that speed.

Can't wait to see how it progresses from here!!
