[ROM] Lithium Mod - Source built awesomeness! Themes galore!

I posted this a few pages ago but will give it one more shot.

I have read several posts about the extended battery life that LithMod provides. I have found the exact opposite to be the case. A collegue of mine switched to saphire from lithmod because he, too, experienced a big battery drain with LithMod using a totally different theme than me (he was using Gala, I am using Watermark'D). Here is what I am using:

Kernel: P3 LV 250-1Ghz
Set CPU: profile
Default 600M-1Ghz ondemand
Temp>50 100, 250-250 ondemand
Bat<25% 85 500-125 ondemand
Screen off 80 800-400 ondemand
Charging USB 61 800-400 ondemand
Charging full 56 900-250 ondemand

I am also using Auto Memory Manager configured a bit above the "mild" setting (which I am considering axing)

Any suggestions? Are there any logs that I can look at to show me what is draining the battery? How is your battery life, and what profile settings do you use for set CPU? What kernel are you using? I would appreciate any guidance you can offer.

I'd get rid of the P3 kernel and use one of Chevy's kernels. I'm using his 7-slot 1.2 ghz ulv kernel right now and it's awesome. I use Autokiller set to a custom preset (set right between moderate and optimum). My setcpu profiles look like this:

Screen off: Priority 97, 550/400 - ondemand
Charging/Full: Priority 96, 800/550 - ondemand
Battery < 21%: Priority 95, 400/400 - conservative
Battery < 41%: Priority 94, 550/400 - conservative
Battery < 100%: Priority 93, 1000/550 - ondemand

I also have my brightness set to low, not quite the lowest, but pretty low.

I also have CacheMate scheduled to clear cache every 4 hours.

With everything above, I've been getting some crazy good battery life. A few days ago I was slightly keeping track of it, and after 16 hours of pretty frequent use, I was still at 70%. Between texts, emails, browsing the net, and just general use, I still get that kind of battery life.

When I was using P3 prior to Chevy, I was having the same kind of problems. Also, before I switched up to the Evo theme, I was using watermark'd with the same settings for everything that I just listed, and was still getting great battery life. I'd try switching up the kernel. If you go the Chevy's route, you can snag it in Rom Manager.

Hey Man-

Just gotta thank you for the chevy ULV tip. I ditched my P3 and got a 7 slot 1ghz ULV and it really did make a difference. Thanks again for the tip.

Hey no problem! Try it out for a few days and see if you notice any major improvements. P3 kernels tend to run a bit hotter and have a lower battery life. There's nothing wrong with them, they're good kernels, but from my experience there's certainly better available.

android dose do a good job of handling memory but i find that auto killer dose help, it just tweeks the settings a bit to make it do a better job. its kinda like a set and forget thing. also you guys know that jfdlg made some kernels that are made just for lithmod? I just installed one and its working grate. Im going to be watching the battery life over the next few days, other than that it seems to be running nice and cool, even use a live wallpaper now because before the system would lag a bunch with p3 kernels, anyway heres a link to those lithmod kernels i found http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...hium-mod-kernels-official-kernel-lithmod.html

I wouldn't be surprised if some people exaggerate their battery life, but I can assure that I certainly am not. Maybe try upping your 250 min to 400. I've been wondering if having setcpu set to the lowest your kernel can go is actually bad. I had mine set up at 250 min when I first put lith mod on my phone, but ended up changing to 400 and min. It's been great for me ever since.

What kind of profiles do you have in setcpu? Do you have the priorities set correctly? (stupid question I know, but some people get the settings confused.)

In regards to the frequency of use, I probably call/receive 2 to 4 total calls per day and talk for 10 minutes at the very most. Otherwise, I'm using it to check fantasy teams, play world war each hour, and so on. After 5 hours of use, my phone might be 90. Oh sht, I also listen to podcasts on my phone every night at work for a couple of hours and that might take 10-15% of my battery at the most.

I don't think you have a bad battery. When I first installed Lith Mod, I was using a P3 kernel, 800 mhz I believe, and my battery was lasting about as long as what yours is. As soon as I installed the Chevy kernel, my battery lasted all day.

I'm set pretty well (I think). Here's what I got:

Screen Off Priority: 93, 400-200
Temp>50 C, Priority 92 500-250
Charging AC/Full, Priority 90 800-250
Battery <15%, Priority 70 550-250

One thing I just realized is that I wasn't running the latests baseband. I never updated because some people were reporting issues with it a few months back. Sine it's official from Verizon now I figured I'd give it a shot and see if it changes anything...

I'm not sure how AutoKiller works and haven't tried it. I've stayed away from task killers recently especially after reading how Android handles memory.

Hmm, so based on your profiles, when your phone isn't charging and it hasn't fallen below 15% battery, it's always going by the default setting (on the main screen) except when your screen is off. If your default setting is too high or something, then that could be a big cause.

No default is 600-250 on demand. I recently dropped down to 600 from 800 to get better battery life.

I lost root access after installing this rom..any idea on how to get it back? I was coming from the first lithium mod rom and i did install su 2.3. I am not sure if that's the reason why i lost it.

Edit: nevermind I rebooted into recovery mode and re-installed the su 2.3

anybody have any luck installing nook onto your phone, the download fails every time for me. Currently running lithium mod and thought i'd try the app out

So, I'm still new to this, have only had my phone rooted for a week. Been going through different roms, and am having major trouble with Lithium. I've tried 2 themes and multiples way of installing it, but every time it causes my phone to overheat and/or lockup. Sometimes it has rebooted on its own, but most of the time just stays frozen.

In my searches I've found this might be linked to the SuperUser 2.2. But upgrading to 2.3, through rom manager and cw recovery, has made no difference. Trying to go back to 2.1 or 2.0.3 won't work either. I downloaded the Lithium files from this site and put them on my phone, installing through rom manager or from cw recovery. Nothing has made a difference so far. The freezing happens as soon as I try to do anything with Lithium. I've tried loading it with and without wiping the phone first. I was able to get it working long enough to get setcpu going once, but that didn't change anything either.

I haven't even had a chance to mess with kernels, so that's definitely not an issue.

Anyone have any advice? It would be greatly appreciated...

When you change themes using Rom Manager how do you get rid of the old theme that seems to be taking a ton of memory?

What's market hack mean?

The Market Hack is a simple trick to make the OS/Market think you are running ESE81 based Rom instead of what it truely is by changing a few key values in the build.prop file located in /system. This forces the Market to show you compatible apps for the ESE81 builds.

I personally do NOT recommend using the Market Hack for the simple reason it causes more harm than it fixes. Yes, it will bring you apps to Froyo that wont show up in market without the hack, but those apps arent in the Froyo market for a REASON. Those apps are incompatible and Google has removed them because of that. When you bypass this security you are opening your Droid to the STRONG possibility of installing incompatible apps that will have anywhere from small (settings wont work right) to large (FC issues) errors with these apps.

I suggest sticking with the straight up Froyo market apps and encourage all of you to send a friendly email to the developer of any app(s) you do not find in the Froyo market that you wish to see. These developers must update their apps to work on Froyo in order for them to show up.

;)

When you change themes using Rom Manager how do you get rid of the old theme that seems to be taking a ton of memory?

Changing themes does NOT leave old themes to "take up a ton of memory." Theming in the Android world is actually REPLACING stock apps with a themed app, thus removing any old instances (or trash) of the old versions of applications.

Yeah I'm learning the hard way. I just chose to wipe data and cache and now I'm running restore... ugh.

I would imagine these themes take a alot of space.

Pretty cool though.

Now I know why you guys have been at this for ages. I should be asleep!

sethe you said Kernals aren't the problem because you haven't messed with them but that might actually be the problem. Different Droids and roms react differently to various Kernals. Both P3 droid and Chevyno1 have gotten great reviews and have Froyo compatible kernals in Rom manager. give them a try.

Was trying out this ROM for awhile. Is there a reason why autokiller settings do not persist even though I have the option set for boot?

I'm running Lith Mod and just recently updated to the latest baseband (I used the one on Pete Alfonso's site).

It worked however since then my Key Lime themed phone dialer appears as a plain flat black dialer. It looks very basic and odd, it doesn't even look like the stock dialer. Any ideas as to why that would change?

Or better yet, how do I revert to the themed dialer?
