[ROM] Lithium Mod - Source built awesomeness! Themes galore!

ROM Manager keeps telling me I have an update available, and wants me to keep installing the update. Anyone else having this problem?

that wouldn't happen because i didnt add the build.prop to the update.zip.

Did you mean to say that WOULD be happening because you didn't add the build.prop to the update.zip?

It's just that when I read your statement with the word 'wouldnt' in there it sounded to me like you had meant to say 'would' rather. Is the lack of a build.prop file in the update.zip you posted on ROM Manager causing the constant update notification message?

EDIT: Or did you really mean it, that they wouldn't be caused by you not putting in the build.prop file?

Ok, not sure if this is a bug with you guys or it something else was going on. This is what happened:

First had this happen a couple days ago. Handcent was not playing notification sounds when new text was coming in. I believe it may have been something with app itself. I initially wiped data and flashed a backup, but problem came back after awhile. Then, last night, uninstalled Handcent, then reinstalled, problem seems to have gone away. That's why I think it was the app, though I've only seen this problem since flashing ROM.

Another thing I noticed is that apps installed on SD card lose icon after reboot. Never had that problem before with any other ROM.

The last thing I've noticed is that the home launcher that came pre-installed lost it's ability to move icons/folders from original location on home screen. When pulled from app drawer, apps don't even appear on home screen. Folders created on home screen, once created, can't be moved to different screen or have a hard to.e even moving them on the same screen. Initially, I just wiped data and reflashed ROM, but problem came back after a short time. Remedied it by installing launcher pro. Like that better anyways, cuz original launcher wouldn't allow you to change the apps dock apps.

Has anyone else had these problems? I'm on a moto Droid, running the stock theme.

Overall, extremely happy with the ROM. So far, it's the best 2.2 I've tried with the fewest amount of problems. Have recommended this mod to everyone I come in contact with.

Thanks in advance!

Actually just figured out the Handcent part of this, it's a conflict caused by not having the notifications in notification bar. Even though I have it's notify me in the dock bar, I need to have it still come up in notification bar. So that has been taken care of.

Too many issues with LiMod. Going back to UD 6.0 with WaterMarkd. No problems there. May try and resolve this another time. Oh well!!

Do the new Voice Search features work for anyone? Whenever I give it a command, it just takes me to a google search of that command.

Yeah, I have the same problem...

Not sure if it's been addressed yet, but I was having the same issues when I first installed it. Every time I tried a voice text/call/email command, it always gave me some crazy response instead of the contact I was trying to get in touch with. At any rate, after playing around with my settings for a while, I figured out that you have to have your google contacts sync on whenever you use it. Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> Google. Just make sure that's on and it should be good to go. I was disappointed with the app at first, but after fixing it, it's the ****.

I think many people have had problems with it because turning the sync off saves the battery a little bit. Hopefully this fixes it for the rest of you!

Battery Drain

I posted this a few pages ago but will give it one more shot.

I have read several posts about the extended battery life that LithMod provides. I have found the exact opposite to be the case. A collegue of mine switched to saphire from lithmod because he, too, experienced a big battery drain with LithMod using a totally different theme than me (he was using Gala, I am using Watermark'D). Here is what I am using:

Kernel: P3 LV 250-1Ghz
Set CPU: profile
Default 600M-1Ghz ondemand
Temp>50 100, 250-250 ondemand
Bat<25% 85 500-125 ondemand
Screen off 80 800-400 ondemand
Charging USB 61 800-400 ondemand
Charging full 56 900-250 ondemand

I am also using Auto Memory Manager configured a bit above the "mild" setting (which I am considering axing)

Any suggestions? Are there any logs that I can look at to show me what is draining the battery? How is your battery life, and what profile settings do you use for set CPU? What kernel are you using? I would appreciate any guidance you can offer.

I'd get rid of the P3 kernel and use one of Chevy's kernels. I'm using his 7-slot 1.2 ghz ulv kernel right now and it's awesome. I use Autokiller set to a custom preset (set right between moderate and optimum). My setcpu profiles look like this:

Screen off: Priority 97, 550/400 - ondemand
Charging/Full: Priority 96, 800/550 - ondemand
Battery < 21%: Priority 95, 400/400 - conservative
Battery < 41%: Priority 94, 550/400 - conservative
Battery < 100%: Priority 93, 1000/550 - ondemand

I also have my brightness set to low, not quite the lowest, but pretty low.

I also have CacheMate scheduled to clear cache every 4 hours.

With everything above, I've been getting some crazy good battery life. A few days ago I was slightly keeping track of it, and after 16 hours of pretty frequent use, I was still at 70%. Between texts, emails, browsing the net, and just general use, I still get that kind of battery life.

When I was using P3 prior to Chevy, I was having the same kind of problems. Also, before I switched up to the Evo theme, I was using watermark'd with the same settings for everything that I just listed, and was still getting great battery life. I'd try switching up the kernel. If you go the Chevy's route, you can snag it in Rom Manager.

I've used nothing but Chevy on 2 or 3 other of Jrummy's roms and also on a couple bb roms and a few others. Unfortunately something about lithium causes a boot loop. I had trouble w/ the lv 1.2Ghz even though like I said I used it on 6 or 7 other roms in the past without a problem.

Anyone have an idea why it's not compatible for me w/ this ROM when it has been in the past? I know Chevy added some temp monitoring I think and he said that was the only change, but for some reason the new kernels don't work as well as the old. I guess this is a bit off topic, but is there any way somebody can send me one of his kernels from last month? I was using lv 1.2Ghz

Ted, have you considered adding a profile in case the temperature gets too hot?

When was the last time you tried using a Chevy kernel on Lithium Mod? I think a majority of LithMod users were having problems installing Chevy's kernels a couple of weeks ago, but he had updated all of them. I was having bootloop issues when I first tried installing a Chevy kernel several weeks ago, but after the update they've worked flawlessly.

Oh weird. What Chevy kernels did you try? Where were you downloading them from? I'm trying to think of what else could be causing the bootloop issue. As far as I know, most people don't have any issues installing Chevy's kernels on Lithium Mod unless their phone can't handle a specific speed.

I tried his 1.2LV since I thought my phone was so comfortable with them in the past. I'm using ROM manager. Right now I'm trying a 1.0lV. The 1.0lv booted up w/out a problem so just for "fun" I tried the 1.2lv that I loved so much in the past and that caused bootloops. I gave it a full 2 minutes of going back and forth w/ the M logo. 0.8lv and 1.1lv both worked fine

For me personally, I never get any Chevy kernels to run right on my phone. Most cause bootloops or run insanely hot for some reason.

It's so weird to hear multiple people saying they have issues with Chevy's kernels. I know they were causing bootloops several weeks ago, but I thought that it had been resolved. I installed my chevy kernel the day he released the updated ones and haven't had any problems since. I haven't had overheating problems either. In fact, my phone has been running remarkably cool since installing it.

It's crazy to think that some phones can handle certain things and some can't, even if they're the exact same phone.
