[HACKS] Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

Yes. And the power up thing too.
I tried wiping the cache, nothing. I don't want to reformat and wipe everything, but I may have to.
I can't power off, btw. I have to pull the battery

The longer I leave it between battery pulls the more it goes. I've left it on for about 30 minutes and its halfway through the first eye flash. :(
Any ideas what to do? Should I just reformat?

A big shout out to Motocache1 and everyone who took part in this. Originally I was having problems and just could not get it to work. Moved from my windows 7 64 bit pc to my vista 64bit laptop and everything worked. Easy as pie. I can't believe I waited. I feel free now.

Ok still new to all this. What should i do next? I heard something about nand something or other it was to back up i think. And heard someone say something about rom manager. Is there an "Ok now iam rooted now what thread" i didnt see anything. I already did the wifi teather thats why i rooted.

Just successfully rooted the phone FRG22. Superuser is available. Now the phone is super sluggish and market will not load.

What should I do? Do I need to reflash the phone? Reflash back to stock?

i was sort of under the impression that rooting the phone would unlock some more features within the OS that would be available readily. but it seems more like rooting allows for downloading apps that require root to do things that unrooted phone apps cannot. is this the case ?

so, aside from looking for apps in the market that will enable additional features like terminal, cpu clock speed, etc. what can i do with the phone OS itself that i couldn't do before rooting ?

overclock, make a full backup of all apps and the "os" itself, really an open ended question as there is so much.

more examples pls ? this is a linux-based system, so if i get an app to give me a terminal, what can i do compared to an ubuntu installation ?

You can change how everything looks by theming, you can overclock, wireless tether, change baseband, change rom ...

Another thanks goes to MotoCache1 et al, I am now rooted on stock frg22d with a nandroid backup and wireless tether. Just try to stop me now!

my phone will not flash in rsd lite... in the status section it says platform is not designed for CDMA_TYPE-OMAP-CHIPSET, and then fails to flash the recovery file

anyone know of an easy way to root with a mac? I was rooted until this morning with easy root but I got the "system update" message. I had a clockwork recovery thinking it would protect me but it didnt. Now im sitting here with a stock droid and cant do anything fun with it. Also I still have superuser installed but i'm no longer rooted, cant figure that one out.
