[HACKS] Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

And your phone is in recovery mode, correct?
I'm assuming recovery mode would be part of step 2:

"Unzip the SBF file that you downloaded in Step 4 of "things you're going to need" above. This will produce the file MC1_A855_1282081087_Recovery-Only_SPRecovery_0.99.3b.sbf."

So step 2 should say copy unzipped file 'MC1_A855_1282081087_Recovery-Only_SPRecovery_0.99.3b.sbf' to SD card? That I didn't do.

It's at the bootloader screen. I've followed exactly what the directions stated, did nothing more, nothing less.

Yes. The detailed instructions are what I followed. Should the unzipped SBF recovery file be on the SD card prior to powering down and re-booting in bootloader mode?

I didn't see anywhere in Step #2 that it said to copy it to the SD card. It just said to unzip it, which I did, anticipating that in later steps it would tell me to copy it.

OK, I feel like there is some confusion over what should be copied to the SD card... The SBF file is not to be copied to the SD card. It is extracted from MC1_A855_1282081087_Recovery-Only_SPRecovery_0.99.3b.zip. That is the file you load into RSDlite - see step 8. It remains on the computer.

The MotoCache zip file (MotoCache1_Complete_Root_v1.1-update.zip) is what you put on the SD card. You have to rename this to update.zip, though. Don't forget that. And yes, this needs to be put on the SD card before rebooting to bootloader.

Did you do this correctly?

That may make it easier. I just kept it on my desktop and navigated to it. Honestly, furbearingmammal is much better equipped at helping you. :)

the SBF file is not on the SD card. The Motocache file is on my SD card and has been renamed update.zip
I have hit a roadblock at step 7 because RSD Lite will not recognize my device

EDIT: USB debugging has been enabled and the phone restarted in bootloader mode. Like I said, I followed the instructions to a 'T'
Also, the phone is connected directly to the computer via USB

Badmeat, did you do the last half of step seven of detailed procedure:

"Hopefully the phone will be listed in the grid in the bottom half of the RSD Lite window. Give it a minute or two if it doesn't show up right away. Sometimes it takes Windows a minute (or 2 or 3) to let go of the phone and pick it back up again after rebooting into the bootloader. If after a couple minutes your phone still isn't listed in the "Model" column of the bottom section, in RSD Lite, click Config, Device Id Options, and choose "First-Come-First-ServeDeviceId Mode" and press "OK". RSD Lite may say you need to restart RSD -- if so, do so."

good luck
