[HACKS] Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

Just some food for thought... if you ever have an issue with your droid and need to use your warranty to obtain a replacement, you can use the RSD method to return it to stock (unroot) without having to see any information on the phones screen. Very useful if your rooted and have a screen issue.

I can't find a post to help!!

I am using a Macbook with parallels running windows 7, and I'm trying to root my Droid using the preceding post but I'm running into a problem with getting RDS Lite4.6 to find my phone. ?So my question is what do I need to do to get it to find my Droid? Do I need a certain App. for proper device configuration. Also, I am having some trouble getting the drivers that you provided to work. My pc/Mac wont install drivers due to Windows update center not having driver installation enabled. I tried and could not figure out how to enable the function. I'm using a Moto Droid running OS2.2 FRG22D.

Please help somebody, this is driving me nutz...thanx

This is simple. Borrow a PC. The problem isn't the process it's yur hardware. Use a PC and you will be rooted in min.

9. The SBF install goes fine, but when I go to apply the update.zip file in SPRecovery I get an error that it can't mount /sdcard (I can't reproduce -- need exact error message).

Some info on my phone
2.2 FRG22D
Ive flashed the recovery about 5-6 times, lose recovery after first time accessing it.

While im accessing it i cant apply the update.zip because of the error above.
I can get the exact error message if needed?

On page 40 or so is this exact issue. You NEED to run the update for it to stick. This is an SDcard issue. Turn the phone off. Take battery out. Take sdcard out. Reinsert SDcard. put battery back in. Turn on phone. Try again.

quick question on the directions for this when it says to save the file to the root of the sd card does that just mean anywhere on the card as long as its not in another folder?

When you open your phone on your computer or through Astro, its the first area you see.

But, your wording is correct.

can someone please help me? I followed the directions exactly as theyre stated and i did everything-i flashed into sprecovery and installed update.zip and it said install complete. so i rebooted and when my phone booted back up, its still not rooted, but now it keeps saying process stystem is not responding over and over again and i keep hitting force close, and after about a minute my phone reboots. and it keeps doing that....what should i do? please help!

yes i can...should i see if i can restore a backup from when i was rooted? (cause i used to be rooted and then i lost it by accident so im trying to reroot.)

Is it a clockwork mod nandroid, or an sprecovery nandroid? They are not able to be used universally. If you created them in cm you wont be able to use them in sprecovery.

Sent from my Droid using DroidForums App

its sprecovery. luckily, when i used to switch roms (which i did quite often) i would backup using both sprecovery and clockwork recovery. im going to try that now and hopefully it will work!
