I was stuck in boot loop and couldn't get into recovery so I followed the guide and everything went smoothly except for the root. My phone flashes the SBF and I catch the reboot get the PASS and then try to boot into recovery and all I get is an exclamation point. I started over from scratch 2 more times reading each word in the tutorial very carefully with the same result. Are there multiple SBFs and I picked the stock without root option?
No. The sbf listed in this guide only removes the stock recovery. You must do the update.zip right after you boot into recovery. Otherwise the stock recovery will return.

I don't have sprecovery after flashing so I cannot even get to the update.zip
Its completely stock but I have no sprecovery and I cant connect with adb.
So I tried to root the D1 today using this method
And I was able to get the # prompt
But when I tried to cp the files into /system/app/ and /system/bin/
I get "cp: Not found" error.
But when I use the same command for my Droid X, it works, anyone know why?
There must be something on the D1 blocking that command.

You are positive you are catching the boot so you get a PASS, AND then immediately booting into recovery? (x+power)
It sounds like what happened to me. If you catch the boot, then do a normal reboot you have to start over. Are you doing a normal reboot then powering down and booting into recovery?

Nevermind I got it to work. I have no idea where I got it but the sbf was wrong. I don't remember being on a different site and downloading one but it was the stock 2.2 only like I had guessed. Got the right one and was working in under 2 minutes.

Are you using the mothod on the OP of this thread? Because if you are, then there is no 'cp' command spelled out there. The only place it is is on about page 67 in a post of mine. Please clarify. The 'cp' command comes stock in /system/bin on android.
Let me see if i can explain this right...i follows all the steps, and on the
RSD Lite window i get PASS. The phone reboots, i hold the x button, get the gold droid guy... then...go to the installation of the update...says it is blocked, update aborted.
