[HACKS] Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

Im also getting:
-- Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
E:Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted.

--MOUNT OPTIONS--
Mount /system
Mount /data
Unmount /cache
Mount /sdcard
Enable USB Mass Storage
-------------------------

Well reading the op, I went to mount/sdcard, but keep having the same problem. I go back to the mount options screen and it automatic changes itself back to mount/sdcard from unmount. Any way to keep it from undoing what i did. I have redownloaded, reflash, and keep having the same trouble.

You don't have to mount sdcard. Is your file named correctly, update.zip not .zip.zip?

So what are you asking?

The first error you gave is an sdcard problem. Just reseat the card.

The second one is a RSDLite issue. It looks like it isn't recognizing your device. Try a different USB port. Do you have the correct drivers?

Did you read this post from the last page regarding reseating the sdcard?

Also is it still connected to the PC while you are trying to flash update.zip?

i read the last page, and thats not my problem. (first thing I check)
and no it was not connected to the pc, is this the problem?

When I get to step 5, I get a message on my computer "USB device not recognized", and RSD Lite will not detect phone.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

@mopar

This is an error with the sdcard. You can try backing up the entire card to your PC, then format the card using the menu in the OS, then putting everything back on it.

Do you have the correct drivers installed?

Doublecheck to make sure you have the latest version of the drivers before continuing. You probably have, but sometimes updates slip by without our notice.

Ah. I don't think that can be active when attempting this.

OK, I tried a couple reboots, alternate usb ports. I now get motoconnect msg stating "motorola flash interface failed".

I guess I disable motoconnect and try again...

Hello there,
I have been trying to root my droid 1 all morning. I am getting stuck on this step.
Copy MotoCache1_Complete_Root_v1.1-update.zip to the root of your phone's SD card and name it as update.zip

I have searched all over and can't find a simple way to do it. Tried adb, ect. I am using a mac but with the paralles desktop and windows xp. I get through all the steps except i cant get that file to the sd card. Thanks in advance! Justin

I actually dragged it from my desktop into the e: which is where I can see all the folders on my phone.
