[HACKS] Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

I know this is an old forum but I am having an issue with the last two step of sbf rooting. When I go into the Install from Sd card, I get the following error;
E: Can't mount dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(no such file or directory)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted

it's officially official ... i am getting a D2, can someone point me to directions for rooting the D2 ?

i'll be unrooting the D1, do i run any risk of damage or bricking if i follow the steps in post # 957 (pg.96) ?

Z4root or the link in my signature for the D2.

This came from my brain by way of my finger and my phone. Don't ask where any of them have been. Especially the brain.

I have read this post many times. However I am having trouble I was in the process of rsdlite flashing my phone when someone tripped over the cord and unplugged it from my pc. I was able to put update.zip onto the phone however now I get a no battery sign and when ever I take it off a wall charger it goes dead. It wont even allow it to turn on plugged into my pc. Whenever I go into bootloader I get a message that says "Battery low cannot program" Is there anyway to fix this. It also has no service and wont stay on for longer than 4 minutes plugged into the wall.

Prepare yourself for the possibility you have a bricked phone.

First, do you have anyone you can borrow a battery from or use their phone to charge yours?

Actually yes! My roommate has a droid as well Ill just wait until he gets home and hopefully whats happening is that its not allowing my battery to charge at all. If I bricked it oh well im up for a upgrade and will just get the droid x and then be more careful with the cords next time

Now its getting wierd. I was able to borrow his battery so I sent the sbf file to the phone I caught it before it rebooted I then installed the rom and it still says no battery shuts off spontanously. I did everything to the tee

What ROM did you flash? Because that sounds EXACTLY like the issue everyone who used the 2.1 SPRecovery SBF has had. AKA a 2.1 kernel on a 2.2 install or vice versa.
