rubiX Focused 1.6

Did you do more than just extract it? You have to actually run the zip from clockwork recovery. Also, and I don't know if this makes a difference, I did remove/rename LatinIME.apk and libjni_latinime.so prior to unzipping.

i booted into clockwork and installed the .zip

I did not however rename the latinIME.apl or the libini_latinime.so

ill give that a try then run the .zip again

thanks for the help

No problem. Yeah I figured that there may be some issues with files being named the same thing, so I just named the ones I wanted to replace with .bak on the end of it and then when I ran the .zip in clockwork, everything went like, well, clockwork.

renaming the .apk file did it :)

thankss

Quick question, is ROM manager able to find updates for this rom?

Sent from my DROIDX using DroidForums App

This ROM isn't in ROM Manager yet. Drod was working on something yet, and I know there will be patches, or verisons, or (?) that will go along with the Blurry 1.0 version, so when they're ready, I'll get them both in ROM Manager.

Also, we did some testing with the Premium ROM Manager feature of the auto detect new version thingy, and didnt' have any luck. :P Considering there isn't much of a manual on ROM Manager, telling us exectly what needs to be on both ROM and in ROM Manager script to make it work... we'll probably just skip the upgrade ability anyway...

Ah ok thanks. Are these forums the best way to keep up with the updates?

When ROM Manager is available, I'll probably put up a post... I'll also update the 3rd or so post (Pretty sure one of those is mine.. ?

Comment on the Facebook linking with contacts. It actually looks like it merges the contacts on it's own. I didn;t notice that before.

You're welcome! Glad I could be of assistance.

Does anybody know how to do a background image on the menu app? Like the stock rubix launcher. When you press the app menu and pulls all the app and the background is transparent. Can we do that on launcher pro? Or do we have to change the app background instead of the framework?

This may be known already, I don't know, but I just realized that I wasn't getting any voicemails. You must either install vvm.apk after flashing this ROM or use googlevoice or you will not get voicemails. Correct me if im wrong but this was the only way for me to do it. I included the link to the system dump below. Just download, unzip, copy VVM.apk to sd card, copy to /system/app and install.

ive received multiple voicemails without an issue after installing Rubix 1.6

I did not need to install any sort of .apk or anything like that...straight off the flash of rubix it was good to go

this is just my experience though

Oh thats interesting. I wonder what could have been causing me not to receive them. Maybe someone could shed some light on this. What does rubix use for voicemail? Because I experimented with leaving a couple voicemails before installing vvm and i didnt get notifications and they didn't exist when i called my voicemail, but now its back to normal after installing the app.

When I install the launcher2 patch nothing happens is there something else I have to do?

Sent from my DROIDX using DroidForums App

Don't mean to be condescending, but Launcher2 looks a lot like ADW at default. Are you sure nothing's changed?

when you press 'menu' from home, do you see 'ADW settings'?

If not, then you are now on Launcher2.

Yes sir it has the colored icons on the launcher and adw settings is there

I'm not sure if that patch removes ADW (I happen to like ADW).
You may need to go into manage applications and 'clear defaults' on ADW.

Then press 'home' and see if gives you the choice between Launcher2 and ADW. Of course set Launcher2 to your default at that point.

Preinstall Apps

A note about ADW Launcher

I have always used ADW, so it's on my list of Marketplace Apps (AppBrain, etc)
Since this is installed with the ROM, it confuses the Market. It allowed me to install it twice. I used ADB Shell to mv ADWLauncher.apk to ADWLauncher.bak in /system/apps and rebooted. This put me on using my 'Market' version of ADW.
I do not know the implications for updates/etc. with staying on the built version, but thought this needed to be mentioned. ADW has had many updates in the last month or so. And the improvements have been HUGE. Would hate to see people get locked into an old version.

Sounds like an easy fix... probably a necessary one as well. Drod?

Because of the way apps are signed, there is no easy way to "install" an app via a ROM, that can then be upgraded via the Market. The app would have to be placed on the SDCard in a folder, and manually installed, for example.

This was on my list of things to find a way to do.. if anyone has additional info on how to install an app to /data/app, via patch/ROM/etc., and still have that app be able to be updated via Market, PLEASE share that info!

Sephtin,

I'm looking for instructions on how to use this, but I've seen reference to a /preinstall directory.

On my X there is indeed a /preinstall directory. inside it there are several subdirs. /preinstall/app & /preinstall/md5.
I believe if you put the 'market' version of an APK in /app along with an md5 sum, you should be able to preinstall apps.
The trick is I don't know how to 'initialize it' or when it gets called/run, etc.
However, since sephtin is the script guy, I thought you could take that info and figure out the rest :)
