rubiX Focused 1.6

I had multi touch installed but every time I selected it went into a FC loop

I deleted the .apk using root manager so the only keyboard left was swype

went in and downloaded the ASOP keyboard from ROM manager

booted into recovery, installed, it stated it completed

restarted X and still nothing except swype

anyone have any issues downloading the AOSP keyboard from Drods section in ROM manager?

I downloaded and installed the zip but still no keyboard is avail, only option is swipe

No... in fact, I have Swype, Android, and Multi-touch keyboards available. The one that says default focused keyboard is multi-touch.

Can you tell me what steps you took for all three to show? Multitouch replaced android keyboard for me...

Well, I kinda cheated, but it's a pretty cool way to cheat :) I installed the default focused keyboard for multitouch as said previously. To get the AOSP keyboard, I had to be creative. The voice recognition app, Vlingo, has its own keyboard which is actually the AOSP keyboard. The ONLY difference is that the mic button uses Vlingo instead of Google (which is better anyway). Now my input method options show Swype, Multitouch Keyboard, Vlingo Keyboard. Besides the keyboard, Vlingo is pretty awesome anyway!

I have vlingo installed as well but im not a huge fan of the keyboard, the buttons seem smaller and more compressed than a regular multi touch so i constantly make errors. Were did you find the .apk for the original focused keyboard?

id like to get it and install to see how it works

I use "Status Notes" and same issue, black text. Just throwing that out there, but Imma dealing with it for now cause statusbar looks great :)

Side note, Sephtin, still having the Gallery totally screwing up on me, I think formatting the SDcard would solve the issues....just havent felt like screwing with it yet cause I gotta pull alot of stuff off it first.....guess I''ll try it tonight.

Good to know. Hmm, I also don't believe there's going to be an easy way of patching apps for this. What a HORRIBLE implementation by Android to let the app determine what the default font color would be in the notification bar. :P

Probably won't do 3rd party apps (market apps) unless requested. :( I'd never be able to keep up. :P

Maybe I could do a tutorial or something for it though.. (?). We'll see.

I've been thinking the same thing. There *has* to be a way to script this. I can't imagine trying to do some kind of 'complete' theme (as I've seen others do) and capture ALL of these images, text colors, etc.
Doing them once would be bad enough, but the ongoing maintenance would just be impossible.

Well Vlingo's keyboard is the same as the AOSP keyboard. I don't think it's multitouch. You can get the multitouch keyboard from http://www.sephtin.com/rubiX/rubixFocused-PATCH-DefaultFocusedKeyboard.zip

Thank you :)

still not showin keyboard....odd....

Did you do more than just extract it? You have to actually run the zip from clockwork recovery. Also, and I don't know if this makes a difference, I did remove/rename LatinIME.apk and libjni_latinime.so prior to unzipping.

I
know there is a decent amount of black status bars posted in this thread for focused 1.6 (ive read every page of the thread)...but i havent seen this one and its exactly what i have been looking for..its over at xda and its for fission...i know a lot of people will say rubix and fission are kind of the same so it should but it anyone knows for sure or has tried it let me know...also will it keep the 10% increments for the battery or will it change it back to 20%?

Don't know what the differences between the default framework-res.apk and services.jar files are between Fission and Focused. Keeping in mind, that if a bar/theme/whatever is designed for one... then you're taking those framework files from one ROM to the other... It'll probably work.. as they're compat builds, but it also may cause issues (??).

... So what's different about that one that you like?

Sorry ill post the link in a minute I forgot...its just a black bar and im pretty sure it has all the same icons that r originally in rubix

EDIT*** here's the link.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817871

I don't know for sure, but I'd guess it would show 20% increments. That being said, it is a pretty cool looking black bar. I like the outline to the icons there. I don't care so much what the battery shows anyway. I use battery left, which is more accurate and shows me in 1% increments. If I could remove the battery indicator up there, I would. In fact, there's probably a way to do that :P

Try this:

[custom update] JARubiX for the DroidX - rubiX 1.6 tweaked 11/01 - xda-developers

Same guy that did the Fission bar ... made a black one for Rubix here?
Make sure to look near the bottom of the 1st post ... there is his full update, plus just a Black Taskbar.

I've found the location of the setting to remove the battery, but I can't get framework-res to recompile to let me do it. :S Not sure if it can be hex edited out, or changed... bleh.

Quick question, is ROM manager able to find updates for this rom?

Sent from my DROIDX using DroidForums App

This ROM isn't in ROM Manager yet. Drod was working on something yet, and I know there will be patches, or verisons, or (?) that will go along with the Blurry 1.0 version, so when they're ready, I'll get them both in ROM Manager.

Also, we did some testing with the Premium ROM Manager feature of the auto detect new version thingy, and didnt' have any luck. :P Considering there isn't much of a manual on ROM Manager, telling us exectly what needs to be on both ROM and in ROM Manager script to make it work... we'll probably just skip the upgrade ability anyway...

Ah ok thanks. Are these forums the best way to keep up with the updates?

Did you do more than just extract it? You have to actually run the zip from clockwork recovery. Also, and I don't know if this makes a difference, I did remove/rename LatinIME.apk and libjni_latinime.so prior to unzipping.

i booted into clockwork and installed the .zip

I did not however rename the latinIME.apl or the libini_latinime.so

ill give that a try then run the .zip again

thanks for the help

No problem. Yeah I figured that there may be some issues with files being named the same thing, so I just named the ones I wanted to replace with .bak on the end of it and then when I ran the .zip in clockwork, everything went like, well, clockwork.
