rubiX Focused 1.6

I'm currently running 1.6 right now but was wondering if I wanted to go back to the factory ROM would I go into cwm recovery and select wipe data/factory reset or do I "have" to do the .sbf deal? Thanks in advance.

Why in god's name would you want to go back to the bloated and slow factory DX ROM?

To be honest, I was wanting to see what a unrooted factory ROM would do using the droid X overclock and bloatware froze. I didn't mind the blur and to tell the truth the highest Quad scores i got were on the factory 2.2. I really want to like these ROMS, but I want a baseline.

You realize though that those scores don't really mean anything right? They serve no real purpose when it comes to real world day-to-day use.

There is no possible way that with all the Blur services running in the background that the phone is faster then with all that (excessive and unnecessary) stuff taken out. Just sayin'...

To back up what JagoX is saying.. you can mod build.prop to bump your quad scores by 400-600 with one or two quick changes. It really does mean next to nothing.

However, when I set my wife's stock OTA 2.2 phone next to my Focused 1.X and try to do very basic functions... waiting severall seconds for hers to finish some of the steps after mine is done... THAT is a very good comparison, at least in my eyes...

so what exactly is the "factory reset" option about?

By design, the system was designed so that nothing actually touches the /system partition. Apps from the market and their data are stored in /data, and processes/etc. store stuff in /cache, but system should pretty much never be touched.
ROM's replace /system.
So, Factory reset wipes data, cache, a file on /sdcard (.secure_android, I think (from memory)), some statistics (battery, etc.), phone programming, etc. I believe get wiped as well.. but it doesn't replace the /system directory, which is where the ROM is held.

Does that kinda make sense? If not, grab Root Explorer, and take a look around as to where things are kinda held, etc. ?? That is always good anyway! ;)

I know they are just numbers, but if I want to run other themes and stuff I need to go back to factory. I have played with a friends X and all he had was theme and it was just as fast as mine w/ Rubix 1.0. I Downloaded 1.6 and saw no big change...plus my batt drags through only about 4 hours before I'm at 40%. Moderate web browsing and maybe 15 min. of homerun derby.

Have you tried undervolting it and running SetCPU to throttle the CPU? At 4 hours it sounds like there are other issues with your phone. If the stock factory ROM on the DX was faster then there would be no reason for custom ROMS that have been *proven* to run faster.

I don't understand why, but my quad scores get worse if I overclock to 1.2. I find that program questionable...

noob question

Sorry for the noob question, but I've gotta ask since I haven't seen it mentioned here.

While I'm on Rubix Focused 1.6, and lets say moto releases an update. Not just a bug fix release, like an android 2.3 release.

The ota update won't work?

I'll have to nandroid or sbf back to stock to receive the update?

Since bootloader is locked, there's no chance of getting the new kernel via a custom rom like Rubix?

Am I correct in this?

Thanks!

Drod, Great work, keep it up.
