rubiX Focused 1.6

Outstanding ROM, just updated from 1.0. I was having that lock-screen freeze problem...haven't had it since I upgraded.

ADW is great, but I personally prefer LauncherPro so I went with that. Any chance of including one or the other, similar to what ZapX does?

Extreme thanks to DRod and Sephtin and friends, you guys are outstanding. Amazing how much junk those corporate folks load onto there!

Glad you're enjoying... Focused has made it so I can enjoy the phone soooo much more. :)

ADW is drod's preference... so unless he changes his mind, that's what will be included. If you prefer LPP, it's always an option, you just need to install it *shrug*
On another note, the source for ADW is licensed as open, and LPP is completely closed source. For those that understand those implications....... this is a really big deal. For that reason alone, I won't touch LPP.

All thanks to drod.. he does all the hard work, I just help where I can. :)

Lol yes just like a real one where you would just hit the snooze, I can just tap my phone and it shuts up. Plus I can have it start at low volume. All these nice little options without having to download 3rd party.

Plus how can you pass up that sexy red screen? I love dismissing my alarms just because of that!

Think Alarm Clock Plusv2 doesn't have the tap option.. but has shake, and a myriad of other options, like speaking the time, weather, etc. Shake to snooze, etc. And the best part! NO BLUR FRAMEWORK required!
It also has start at low volume, completely configurable.. you can even set the "gentle increase time", default is 10 seconds.

To each their own.. but I say, I'd rather have 3rd party than Blur....

I love this rom. Big step up from the last one!

Anyone know how I can use some of the blur apps like the toggle widgets and the Blur alarm clock. I installed the apk's but they just open for a second and close. These are the only blur apps I do miss as the stock alarm clock to me gives more options and and easier snooze ability.

I did use root explorer and moved them to system/app first and mounted. Thanks to all in advance and to the mastermind behind this brilliant rom my phone is soooo fast and lasts twice as long than before!

--Toggle widgets- I believe there is a PowerControl widget, but no individual widgets for each... hit the market, tons of options though.

--Blur Alarm Clock- I believe someone figured out how to get it working, but I'd be careful... (the modify to the packages.xml can cause all kinds of issues if not careful):
Adding blur alarm to Fission ROM - xda-developers

To be honest, I HIGHLY recommend Alarm Clock Plusv2:
Alarm Clock PlusV2? - Android app on AppBrain

But have seen recommendations for Alarm Klock from others in the Focused threads due to lack of BLUR alarm:
Alarm Klock - Android app on AppBrain

HTH!

Thanks for your replies Sephtin you are incredibly helpful! :) It's not like I can't live without it as there are some nifty alternatives you listed for me. I appreciate your hard work on these forums. Would love to buy you some Red Bulls dancedroid

Greatly appreciated.. make sure you take care of Drod first!
Link for drod is as always in his sig, bottom of all his posts.
Link for me at bottom of my site (sephtin.com).

I don't request donations, in fact, it's only there because others have suggested I put up a donation link... In any case, greatly appreciated. Always glad to help!

I just tried out the Fission 2.1 and I noticed 2 things.... the friends widget in launcher pro will not allow me to log into Facebook and my service keeps dropping to zero repeatedly.... am I just overlooking something here? Anyone else try this rom with same issues?

I just installed Rubix Focused last night, but so far I love it! I'm so glad to be rid of blur! I. Personally don't like ADW, but LP is easy to install and once the license code for LPP is bought, it's always good, so that works! ;)
The only request I have is for future release, can we have a newer Android Keyboard? Even on the D1 (which jad no blurr) the keyboard had a voice input option...implemented I think at Eclair...
And one question...can we still shoot HD vids with Focused?
Ok, that's all from me... Thanks guys!

I'll answer the last one first:

YES you can still shoot 720p videos.

the android keyboard is the latest built from source. Doesn't get any newer ;)
Like has been stated previously (although I don't blame you for not wanting to go through all the pages) to get VOICE search back, download the app Voice Search from the market. You'll get everything commanded by voice, back.

I also believe the Android Keyboard has options for the mic. Check that in settings to make sure it's on.

Very cool! Thanks for the quick reply ( and patience with me for not reading the 50 pages in this thread) ;) I downloaded voice search...though I rarely use it, I do find it helpful occasionally.
Anyhow, thanks again! And very nice work, this is indeed an awesome rom!

To those with pc mode problems... Pc mode takes longer to connect based in the used memory size of your sd card. Maybe leave it for 5 min and then see if it connects.

Wrong thread?
Did you try the fission thread?

*edit, hmm, misread.
No clue about LPP, but I don't have service troubles... Could always nandroid, and give it a try!

Question, I know that the point of focused is to get rid of all the blur but the ONE thing keeping me from going focused is the lack of the awesome blur camera and the HDMI support. Is there a way I can add this in as the sole blur feature or is someone working on making the AOSP stuff able to output HDMI?

Thanks

I usually like to read everything before asking questions. But a 101 pages, are you kidding me? :)

I'm still on the .03 Blurry (in sig.), any suggestions for me?

I know everyone has their own bugs here and there, but is there any I should worry about before jumping?

Thanks all!

@ScottyDsntKnow: How's Fiona? ;)

Crappy blur camera is available via Unofficial and Unsupported Patch here (compliments of the Fission team):
http://www.sephtin.com/rubiX/DX_Camera(BlurCameraFromFission).zip

Noting of course, that the only features that the Blur camera has that the AOSP camera doesn't, are 6MP Wide Screen, Panorama Assist, and ... I think when recording video, control over which mics are being used. Pretty sure those are the only things missing from AOSP camera... :P

HDMI isn't likely to work with Focused any time soon, due to the BLUR Framework requirements, which no longer exist in Focused. Perhaps it can be patched in, but not until someone figures out exactly which components are required to do so....

New version of blurry coming out in the next couple days (When it's ready (TM)).
Might be a good fit. (?).
