rubiX Focused 1.8.9/1.9.3

Hey Drod, I just loaded 1.96 not too long ago and setup my whole phone accordingly. Should I be ok loading 1.89 over 1.86 w/out F/C city?

You should be fine. You may want to wipe cache, others have had good luck with that.

If you have troubles, then the first thing to try is wiping data. Hope this helps. :)

Seph, I did that but my about screen shows 1.86, is that supposed to be. I guess I need to wipe data as well huh?

The build # wasn't changed in build.prop. That's all.

Nope. You're fine. It wasn't updated between 1.8.6 and 1.8.9.
It's just a line in a text file... :S

Good Looks v4, Glad I didn't wipe data then:)

ok so when i go to About Phone it still says Focused 1.8.6 under Build Number
is that expected?
it totally faster and i'm sure i'm running 1.8.9
anyone else seeing that?

EDIT: I wiped data / cache twice because i thought it reinstalled 1.8.6 the first time.

Basically this update is a full ota style leak... meaning that the kernel is updated through this file as well... There were some major issues with the Droid X android 2.2 release that seemed to have been resolved (atleast for me) with this leak... After 2 days of heavy testing im pretty convinced the media bug s fixed (use my phone as primary mp3 player and used to get the "sorry this music player doesnt support..." several times daily... have yet to get one with heavy use... Also the SMS timestamp bug is fixed, and the battery manager force close seems to be fixed (been checking it constantly in different scenarios and still no force close... All in all im way more happy with my X after this update and I,m pretty convinced that this is the OTA that everyone is waiting patiently for (not a virtue I posess). TBH knows there stuff and when they say they have something, 99.9% of the time it seems like they do... They are legit and Im convinced this update is as well... just be careful and make sure u wipe data after install! ive noticed the install instructions vary among different sites... u want to wipe, format system, MOUNT SYSTEM! then install from sd card... wipe data once more for good measure after the install is complete (cant hurt)... Ive heard horror stories of bootloops from this update and its all people that negelected to understand how drastic this update is (new bootkeys), and who failed to really follow driections... As long as you stick to the directions word for word you will be good!!! Starting from a clean 2.3.15 cant hurt im sure!

No Problem! never had the reboot issue but I have yet to have it with this update if that helps...

Come to think of it, I haven't had any random reboots yet either. I used to get about one a day, sometimes two.

Drod- perhaps edit this into the OP? Just a thought... ;)

Lol just reading the initial release thread of the leak over there makes one wonder just how many ppl never learned to read or follow directions. I had to have seen at least 10 posts where guys bricked their phones by trying to flash back after updating or nandroid back or just not follow the install steps...

I did a full sbf, rooted and then immediately installed the leak over unmolested froyo. No random soft reboots so far, battery manager works, seems like a bunch of little fixes. Now they need to get to work on leaking Gingerbread lol.
