rubiX Focused 1.9.5

Is anyone able to change their boot animation? I tried install them from zips (both unmounted and mounted systems) and manually replacing bootanimation.zip in /system/media but the default rubiX one always shows up.

It seems to be rewriting the boot animation back every time when I use Root Explorer. I would rename the old bootanimation.zip, paste in the new bootanimation.zip and it wouldn't work so I tried to delete the renamed bootanimation.zip but it would come back instantly. The only way it wouldn't be brought back was if I mounted the system R/O right after deleting the renamed file.
Yeah I changed mine. Don't change it in system/ media. Change it in data/ local. You should see bootanimation.zip there

Did mine in root explorer as well

Bleh, totally forgot he mentioned he moved it.
Patch updated (Hope the orig. author doesn't mind my hosting it on my site...):

What exactly does this patch do?

Replaces the boot animation with one that "lines up".
Same animation, just the last image "fixed"

In 1.9.5, I can no longer distinguish between "Screen Timeout" and "Screen Unlock Timer"... This is an irritation because my corporate exchange policy requires a PIN code after 10 minutes of inactivity.

In previous ROMs, I would set the "Screen Timeout" to 30 seconds but would only be asked to re-enter the PIN if 10min of inactivity had lapsed.

In 1.9.5, once the screen turns off at the 30sec timer, I have to re-enter the PIN. And, actually, even if I turn off the screen 2 seconds after I unlock it, I still have to re-enter the PIN.

Am I overlooking a setting somewhere? How do I set the display to turn off at 30 seconds while setting the PIN re-entry period to 10 minutes?

Hmm, I'll need to do some digging into this.
My guess is that with this framework, the timeout for both is set by the display setting. (Which is held in /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db).
IF I can find where the pinlock time-out lives... I'd guess it could be set manually.. until devs can come up with a solution/patch/whatever.

This is a serious issue for me as well. I must re-enter my pin every time the screen comes back on instead of based on the security timeout like on the previous version.

Thank you very much! thar did the trick! Works fine now thank you!

I'm noticing another issue I'm running into. When I'm in the market and I try to click on any of the options from the app side (left side) ((apps, games,.Verizon)) I get forced closed. Every time. I get a black screen then it fc's. Now this does not happen when in games., or Verizon Apps. Any ideas on what to do about this?

First thing I can think of trying, is to wipe data/cache for the market:
Menu> Settings> Applications> Manage applications> all tab> Market>
Force stop, clear cache, clear data, then try again.

Working fine for me.

I fixed all of my problems so far

you should clear cache before and after you install a theme, stops the bootlooping and fixed the sound and lockscreen issuse.

What is the easiest way to get your apps back in place with all your data after moving to this ROM?

I thought I read someplace that even with USER apps, you shouldn't restore APP+DATA from TitaniumBackup, but should just choose APP. Is this true? If so, what could happen if you restore both?

I understand that system apps shouldn't be restored because they can cause problems.

Also, I am noticing the issue previously mentioned where the SCREEN display timeout is now apparently tied to the keypin timeout, where they were separate before. This is also a bother for me because while I appreciate a 1 minute timeout on my screen, having to re-enter my pin every single time gets a bit grating. I don't believe I was able to find out, based on the previous discussion in this thread, if there was a way around this.

Also, my video camera does not work. FC when I switch to video, and blank pictures taken with the camera itself. I'm just about to wipe/reset everything and apply it again.

And finally, I notice that scripts are included. But I've never run a script before on the phone and wondered what the general method and commands were for running these scripts? Thank you.

I haven't been able to restore apps with Titanium since I went on .340. The phone just reboots. It appears to make backups on schedule, only they are no good. When I was able to use Titanium, I restored apps + data so I didn't have to re-enter everything. Since this behavior happened on 3 different .340 ROMS, I switched to MyBackupPro and it restores without a hitch.

GummyJAR, and therefore RubiX 1.95, did not keep the ability to set the lockscreen timeout. This is somewhat of a bummer.

You mean the application permissions?
QuickOffice has permissions to everything but "Network communication".

If it helps, here is how I installed quick office:
1.- copied /data/rubix/quickoffice.bak
2.- navigated to /system/app/ and mounted folder as rw
3.- pasted quickoffice.bak in /system/app
4.- renamed quickoffice.bak to quickoffice.apk
4.1.- I can't remember if I ran quickoffice.apk first...
5.- after a reboot, quickoffice is working ok.

I think you want to make sure the permissions are correct if you follow the above.. (??).

Original Themed Keyboard

Can anyone post the original themed keyboard. I know it is smaller but you do get used to it. Were there any other reasons it got pulled besides the size?

Thanks

Marc
