rubiX Focused 1.9.5

Yeah, I just noticed that. To clarify, it's the arrow keys and function button section. The arrow keys are fine, but the surrounding keys are black. To get to the arrow keys, swype from the Swype key to the SYM key.

Cool, I'm glad I'm not the only one that has the problem. I think its just a png swapping patch, right? Or is the color of those labels dictated in some XML somewhere?

I honestly have no clue. I don't know much code besides Java and HTML (and I'm learning CSS for my website). And I'm only taking a Java class. But you can't expect more from a middle schooler. Or can you?

But I think it is a PNG Swap, but I've read that you need a PNG for each keyboard, not the individual keys.

When I was in middle school...I was a whiz with my typewriter :)

Another issue I've been having is that several apps I try to install (angry birds, radiant HD), give me an app not installed error, with "reason unknown -18" popping up. Anyone have the same problem or know what could be causing that?

When I see a new rom where the base has been changed from previous versions (like this one) I go all out and sbf to a clean system sd card and all prior to install. I know most don't do this and would argue it even being pointless to go so much farther than a simple data wipe. That may be true but I KNOW the rom will be running at it's full potential with no lingering files messing with anything and historically I have never had a single issue that I read others having....ever. Take this how you will but I believe in the clean install and it has always worked. Of course this only applies to base changes not updated roms where a simple cache clear works just fine. Just my opinion.

Try to unmount the sdcard before you install the applications. I have had this problem when apps try to install to the sdcard.

How can I unmount it? It keeps remounting when I use switchpro. Also, what if I want to install an apk that I've downloaded outside of the market?

Would you also say your method would help the increase of battery life somehow?
I might just try that. Because you are correct, there are traces of many other roms in my sdcard.
Anything to help me improve my battery's 8 hour lifespan.
I really don't want to spend money buying a new battery.
But that's my last resort.

This happens every time? Reboot doesn't fix?
I'm going to take a guess that you restored stuff via titanium.. which probably has your market data/cache out of sync. Try resetting data/cache for the market:
Menu> settings> Applications> Manage Applications> all tab> Market
Force stop, clear cache, clear data..

Then see if it happens again.

Maybe, I get much better battery life than 8 hours with moderate use. frequent texting and web use light voice calls 12 hours easy. Light internet days I could nearly double that. I don't use task killers either but do use juice defender to control services when screen is off.

That's called fraud... and another reason our phones are continuously being locked down.

OTA Updates will be done in the future. I'm trying to enable a way to let you guys know directly, not through rom manager.

I'm sorry I miss-wrote what I meant to say and what I actually did. The problem was that I was doing too many things at once and at 1:30 or maybe later. I was creating my website, flashing SBFs, and some other things. My phone went straight to a bootloader with an error message (something like A5, 70, 00, 00, XX) and I couldn't get it to go anywhere else (besides the normal bootloader, but ADB doesn't work for me). I found a few other people with the issue, but no solution. So the next morning I called Verizon, told the guy that I'm having this issue and then he moved me to a higher level of tech support. I told the new guy the code and he said that they would just overnight a phone to me. So I meant tell them your issues and they might ship you a new phone. So I'm not sure, but I believe the issue was that I flashed .40 and then RubiX and forgot to wipe data/cache.
Wow I just reread what you replied to and that might have been the dumbest thing I've ever written.

But anyways, the auto update thing would be awesome if you can make it.

I'm still confident that it was a software error, and that could have been resolved by .sbf'ing to the correct .sbf. :P

Yeah, it was a software error according to Verizon and Motorola, but I couldn't get to the recovery. I could only get to a broken bootloader (by not doing anything) or the normal bootloader. I would have used RSD to SBF something, but as I said, ADB doesn't work on any of my computers (includes parents' and sister's computers).

I've leaned my lesson though... No more leaks for me.

To I unmount you can always connect to your pc. But that's annoying so you should try what Sephtin said. If that doesn't work, try clearing your SD card and re-flash RubiX. But I know that's a pain, so you might to keep asking for a solution on the forums.

If all you're trying to do is unmount the SDCard... Try;
Menu> Settings> SD card & phone storage> Unmount SD card

That should do it.

I believe it's more likely a cache/data issue....try the steps I previously suggested, most likely fix the problem.

Any thoughts about removing data throttling on 1.9.5. Some folks on DXF have used the GummyJar hack and had success, any comments from drod or Sephtin on the safety of this hack?

I know that 1.9.5 and Gummy are very similar, but are they so similar that running this hack they won't have issues?

If other people are using it with success.. it's not part of Focused, it's something that you can choose to try if you want (if it doesn't work, just remove it... removal is as easy as re-loading Focused with no wipe).

Honestly, I'm not huge on taking framework files form one ROM, and migrating them to other ROMs.
I'd MUCH rather know what the change(s) are, and make them myself. I can think of 3 changes to services.jar that I STILL don't have steps to (if anyone has links directly, please PM or email me with info! ;) Or, if there are other hacks to services.jar that are worthwhile.. also lemme know! :)

Those hacks to services.jar that I'm aware of, and wish I had more info on:
--Data Throttling
--Default minimum brightness setting (Someone said this was in framework, if so, disregard) :)
--Remove clock (and/or change font/color)

Sorry if this doesn't exactly answer your question... If/When I can find the exact steps to create them, I'd be happy to make each available using the actual framework-res from the appropriate ROM.

I'm no fan of that either, it's not a big deal for me to have it. I'd prefer if it was something that was done by either yourself or drod to be sure it didn't have any untoward effects on our phones

I have been keeping an eye on different ROMs, etc. an there are dozens of different services.jar files that contain different things, and seemingly get passed from ROM to ROM. :P

I feel the same way. I'd rather start with a clean file, and make the modifications to it...

I DID find the steps to make the change for the data throttling. Hoping to get to my barmod this weekend, it will probably be included, hopefully along with a couple other things. (?).
