Some themes still require that you mount /system before you install...
If they're using an updater-script that doesn't correctly mount it, that is. If someone has a theme that still requires mounting system manually.. look at any recent updater-script from 99% of the ROMs out there and fix it (or PM me, and I'll help.. or whatever)
No need to wipe data for a theme. Rare, but in some cases wiping cache has helped avoid issues.. and it really doesn't hurt anything to do so.
The bootlooping is from using a version that's NOT COMPATIBLE with the ROM:
GummyJar 2.0 and 2.1 themes ARE compatible with Focused 1.9.5
GummyJar 2.5 themes are NOT compatible with 1.9.5, but ARE compatible with Focused 1.9.7.

First time poster with a couple of questions.
First off, rubix was my first ROM and I love it. Its fast, it looks awesome, and my battery is through the roof.
The issue I have is my secondary e-mail (AOL). I know it sucks but I need to keep the account and I keep getting new e-mail alerts, and when I click on the notification, there's no new e-mail. At one point it told me I had 22 new messages, with none to be found. Any idea?
Also, I've figured out everything with Rom Manager, but I'm not sure where/how to go from here. I see all these extras/themes in ROM manager and things like the keyboard patch on sephtins website but I have no idea how I go about using those on this rom. I'm sure thats a very stupid and noob question to ask but looking stupid is better than bricking your phone.

I have the same e-mail alert issue, but I think I figured it out. If you pull down the alert and click the unread email link it takes you to your inbox - but doesn't clear the unread alert. You need to 'clear' in the pull down to reset the unread email counts.
Are you using the aol app or are you using the asop mail client?
If using the asop client, did you set the account as pop? SSL to yes and port to 992? -do a search for the current settings. If everything is in order, try rebooting in clockworkmod and clearing cache
You can also set google to retrieve your aol (or any other provider) email so that your aol emails will show in gmail. You can also set it to reply from that address instead of gmail -you have to do that from gmail settings, in your pc browser.
As far as ROM manager, I use it to manage my backups. I do everything else from clockworkmod. If I was you, I'd check out the thread's on Drod2169's section dedicated to themes. Since there are 2 flavors of 1.9.5, you will want to make sure you are using the right theme for your flavor of rubix and the rubix themers post instructions (and warnings) there. Generally speaking, you want to download the theme files and move them the root of your sd card. Then reboot in recovery (from rom manager select reboot in recovery), select Install Zip File (or something like that), select the file and you are done. You may need to clear cache each time, but follow the developer's instructions.

So, my answer would have to be "when it's done" you'll see an announcement thread.
I know scripts are being re-written/re-worked... and there are app changes... testing.
I also know that drod is Slammed right now. :S
