Rumor: Droid 1, Droid Incredible, and Droid X to receive 2.2 update, starting on 8/6

Just talked to Verizon Rep. Froyo comes out tonight and with this upgrade you can go to settings and request the update and don't have to wait your turn

HaHa While I want to believe what the rep told you about forcing the update it's kinda hard to swallow lol :)
 
I really want to be believe this but i wont hold my breath lol. When midnight rolls around and there's an update available i might just cry so im hoping your right.

2.2 coming tonight

Talked to Verizon customer support and she confirmed that the 2.2 update will start rolling out tonight at midnight. if that means anything.
 
if i try this and don't get the update, should i assume that my phone prevents OTA's and just get the root when its available?
 
Well If they go the same route they went with 2.1 It could take till the end of the week for everyone to get the OTA, but there will be an update zip posted well before then so you could manually install it dancedroid
 
dang, i have been running froyo so long, im waiting to see if the droid 1 can run gingerbread with an overclocked kernel.

for most of us running 2.2 i believe the ota is blocked by the devloper. if you recall when updating your current rom you have to take the allow update prior to running the update.zip. at least this is what i believe, experts chime in please.

good luck to all waiting for 2.2. i cant wait for the developers to get their hands on it and see what tweeks they will come up with.
 
They way Verizon is all tight lipped about everything i am thinking it is going to roll out tonight since they are openly telling anyone who calls the update happens tonight, plus they have the website up for helping people complete the update. I guess time will tell though.
 
Yes It will start rolling out tonight but when they rolled out 2.1 they did so in waves 10,000 at first then 200,000 everyday after that If I remember correctly so If they go that route again it will take some time for everyone to receive it.
 
Not What I am Hearing

I just got off the phone with Verizon Customer Service at 8:10pm Central Time. They told me that they have "no set date on the Froyo release for the Motorola DROID." Don't know what customer service agent with the a crystal ball anyone else is talking too.
