SBF to root and to unroot

SPRecovery is a binary (.bin) file. Your computer doesn't have a program to open these as a normal file. As previously stated RSD Lite will handle it for you.

No matter what I do SBF will not recognize my droid. I have tried both DeviceID options and my phone still refuses to show up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have decided to unroot my phone... I used option number 6 to go to 2.0.1 and now im getting FC's from android.procces.acore consistently and I didnt yet get notified for an OTA, what should I do?

I would try to get back to the Bootloader screen and try to go back to 2.0.1 again

Do you have the driver for your phone installed on you pc? That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head, other than whether you have a Droid or Milestone and that being a conflict. Check if you have 32 or 64 bit pc and all the proper stuff loaded for the system correctly. We really need more details on your setup and issue.

Im trying to root my friends droid and Im having an issue. Mine when i rooted it was flawless, but i cant get spr recovery to flash. It keeps saying failed (it wont even try to flash it just immediately says failed. Im curious if this way still works, I know there is the new app that roots but I like this way because of the control anyway thanks.

I was wondering if maybe we could expect the stock droid rom with root access once 2.2 is released?

The sbf files come from Motorola. nobody I know can create them. If one is released we get it and if not we don't. I don't know if you were looking for a sbf file similar to the stock 2.01 one, but with root.

However, you probably can expect a dev to create a stock rom, with root access that can be flashed with SPRecovery via the update.zip method. It may be the very same version that is out now already. We should know real soon.

SBF Help

I have tried every un-root your phone and or sbf file and tutorial there is... I see in settings that it says 2.0.1 and that I had to re-log in but not activate... when I used the sbf for 2.0.1 it went to 100% complete but said failed in the other column... I thought soon as your un-rooted and back to stock 2.0.1 u should get an 2.1 update or a 2.2 update but i don't see any... when you un-root does this take off the OTA updating block from what most roms do?

This should prompt 2.1 to install

Pull the battery for 30 to 60 seconds reboot and try again.

I dl rsd did the driver thing, then attached phone to comp, held up button, loaded spr onto it. the phone said rebooting. It never acually booted. now its just stuck at the motorola symbol :( . I loaded on a backup from this site and tried again twice with the same results. help?

edit - i just relized somethn, just bought the phone. last time i check it said firmware 2.0.1 i figured that was 2.1.......I hit update anyway and it said my phone was up to date. any clues on this. im sure this is what caused me the problem with spr. looks like i have the same problem as cadtech. tried the battery thing = fail.
