Seidio 2600mAh extended battery

it will take a lil while to go to poor then moderate then accurate, just make sure to run your phone down all the way till it dies and then recharge while it is learning. mine took a bout a week to go to accurate with stock battery.

Once it finally made it to accurate, you feel like it stays accurate now?... are you using this with the extended battery?
opps.. nevermind... I see yours is still on the way...

It will be fun to see how this works!.......

With my old app "batterylife" yesterday during the superbowl I ran it down to 20% and then rebooted and it went up to 70%... now thats a bit ridiculous!

Another question... do you think if we accelerate the draining process verses normal use it will be any less accurate in the calibration process?

I turned my display to stay on for 30 min after I use it just to help speed things up.

That's going to make it less accurate. Just use your phone how you normally use it.

I've skimmed this thread some, but I want to make sure I understand. The extended battery does indeed give longer battery life for the phone. But it doesn't report accurate information to the phone, so the stock battery meter and most battery widgets won't show correct info. What will happen is that the battery meter will get down to 5% and then stay there even if the battery has way more life left. Rebooting helps some, but not really, and is annoying.

Besides the reporting is there any other problem? Does the phone constantly prompt that battery is low and interrupts whatever is going on? Does the phone automatically shut down when it thinks the battery is dead, or disable some radios or backlighting? Because honestly, if the only problem is just innaccurate reporting, I can deal with that. I'll either try the batteryleft app, or live with it.

The phone reports low battery only one time, it does not constantly bother you with it, using the on screen prompts. The only issue is that once it does report 5% battery is that the red LED will constantly flash for the duration of the use of the phone. So besides that, there are no other problems and the life of the battery greatly outweighs the one time onscreen notification and the constant red LED flash.

Thanks for the Reply. In that case, I don't mind the problems. I'll research it a little more, but I'll probably get this. Close to double the runtime will make little annoyances like that fine.

You basically have it right.. but I don't think its the battery reporting anything.... its a battery. Its the phones job to monitor the battery as thats where the cpu, software and logic are at.

I'm not sure if the chemical makeup of the battery is and issue and I think they are both LiPo... but one is bigger and has different readings of capacitance, etc.

Its not a bad signal from the battery, its just physical properties of fact of the battery and the phone is not "calibrated" to read a battery of such type.

I'm giving this app "battery left" a chance.... mostly because I like the ideal behind whats its trying to do "learn".against time...... rather than sample a mindless amp or voltage reading.

We will see!

i would definitely recommend the battery. I have the 2600mah battery and having the freedom to use the phone as much as I want and not really have to worry about the battery that much or at all most of the time is amazing :)

ok so battery is in and charged, battery left is calibrating. too bad seidio sent me the wrong case or id be super stoked right now

I talked to you guys yesterday... and yes I still ran my screen for 30 min timeout.. in the eve I put on tv.com and ran it about 5 hours and by midnight I had reached 5%...... right now its noon and my reading still shows 5% on my batterylife app I still am also running and on the new "battery Left" app I'm trying and it says "-146%" rough.... that means I'm still not dead... still running off the same battery.. no reboots, no charges and according to the "battery left" app it thinks my battery life has gone 46% longer than it originally expected it too "so its learning".. I'll run it till it completely dies and next time just use it normally... which may take 3 days to go dead!

It appears if this thing is really learning that in a week or so, I'll have a battery app that actually knows whats going on!

For me the battery life can become an issue. Not so much for day-to-day purposes, but for time when a recharge isn't available (I'm very active in the local CERT program with the Fire Dept). I do have something that helps. It's a little item called a Turbo Charge TB550 portable cell phone charger. You can get them as cheap as about $9.00 on eBay. (Everready has their own version for about $20 @ Fry's Electronics) It comes with 6 interchanable plugs, though none are micro USB. It does have a mini USB to which I added a short adapter (which costs less than $2.00 also on eBay) which gives me the ability to charge eithier my wife's Blackberry or my Droid. It uses 2 AA batteries and gives 2-4 full charges per set of batteries. It'll also work off of recharable Everready's but may only give about 2 charges (this is to a standard Droid battery). It's really good for long trips. Here's a pic:

I plan to eventually get an extended battery, but not until I know it can be monitored accurately, without rebooting the phone.

Well, I'm still here!.... its 17:00 in the afternoon and my battery is still going... even with all the abuse I did to it yesterday and finally showing 5% at midnight, I'm still going....
Quite funny the battery left app is up to -201%.. "negative 201%" so I've gotten over twice the expected life from it so far..... time since charged = 29 hours 10 minutes... pretty good with the punishment I dealt out yesterday.

When it finally dies, I'll post the results.

Thats great to hear! Cant wait to get mine on Thursday if the storms dont delay my order. ALso can battery left replace our default battery icon?

It puts an icon thats either 1 X 2 or 2 X 2 size as you choose and it tells you the reliability of the stated charge as "calibrating, or rough, good or excellent" based on how much it thinks its learned and knows.

As the battery gets used up, it gets translucent.
At this moment, mine says -204% and 0:00 meaning time left till dead "its been saying that all night and once it gets accurate that will be more useful". If you touch the icon a whole set of other info is available. ie: battery info, usage, and history.
