Seidio Case

@TheOldFart: Just remember seidio is going to come out with a dock that will fit the case. So if you ever want to get a dock (dont know if you do or dont) the in the long run seidio will be the more practical option.

You are absolutely correct and I knew that. I should have added that as an advantage for the Seidio. However, I have no use for the desk dock or the car dock. If I want to use the GPS nav in the car then I will get a generic dock. We tried it a couple of times and my wife just held it and I listened to the voice instructions. I've never had a need for a GPS in our travels. I use Google maps on the Google site for directions for a trip and it sometimes gives me wrong locations or turns at the destination. We went to our local mall this weekend and it placed it on the wrong side of the highway. Not a biggie, as I can see it before I get there. Besides, I knew where it was. :)

I like both cases, but the design of the combo holster and the case are my preference. They do look a bit military, as opposed to the neater appearance of the Seidio.

Edit: I just thought of something. It seems like the Seidio case is a bit thicker than the Verizon combo case, so the Verizon case might fit into the Seidio dock.

Well, I received my case and the Seidio Ultimate Screen Protector tonight.

They work great!

The screen protector is smooth as glass, NO orange peel! Also, very easy to install... no need to wet it or the Droid, it stays on with static cling. seems to also show fingerprints less then the bare glass, but still shows them somewhat.

The case also is excellent. I don't have any issues opening or closing the physical keyboard. My Droid's keyboard wasn't loose to begin with, and now it still is held firmly in place when closed, but it isn't difficult to open either.

Really love this combo, as I keep my Droid in my pants pocket, and being able to simply take it out and answer a call, or look something up, without having to remove it first from a slip case (that's what I've been using up until now) is the perfect solution for my needs!

Also will work well in the car mount I have.
Shel: You mentioned in your note that "Also will work well in the car mount I have." Is this the Verizon/Motorola car mount?

Anyone know if the Seidio case will work in the Verizon/Motorola multimedia dock, or is the case just too thick. I see where Seidio is also coming out with a mount.

Just placed my order for the Seidio case/holster. Anyone interested in buying my Body Glove case or the Verizon shell/holster combo? I really don't need three cases!

Does anyone have good photos of the verizon case that they can post here?

Also, several speak of the verizon combo, so I just went to verizon wireless website and checked out accessories for the droid, and the only combo that the site showed for the droid actually turned out to be a combo for the droid eris, mixed in with droid accessories. Can someone give me a description and/or pics of the holster that comes in the verizon combo pack that is being spoken of? And where are you finding it?

Thanks.

Might be better to start your on thread to get more responses and not clutter this one up.

Both verizon and Seidio cases are already being discussed and compared on this thread, so I'm right on topic.
To start a new thread on a topic that is already being discussed here would be unnecessarily cluttering things up, IMHO.

Go to verizonwireless.com and use the search box in the upper right. Type in "motorola droid combo holster" and it will take you to the results page and then just click on the product and it will take you to the product page with front and back photos of the phone in the case and holster. Shipping is overnight and free.

Thanks. I found that already, and if you look down in the "Details" on that page, you find this quote below, which is what I mentioned earlier, that it is for the Droid eris, not the Droid:

"Allows your HTC Droid Eris to be worn on a waistband or belt and can be taken off of the belt clip without removing it. Advanced locking mechanism securely holds phone in place"

EDIT

Honestly, I am upset I purchased this case. I am a Seido fan boy usually. But this case does not work for me. I am not able to get the upper letters, when I finally sneak my finger under the flap to press a key i always hit the bottom key in conjunction with it. Also, the back of the case makes alot of noise for some reason. I have no idea why. But when I move with it on the other people on the phone ask if i'm in a plastic bag or something. For some reason other having the back on makes my phone ECHO too. I have NO idea why. I take the back off no echo, but once it is on it echos....

ARG

I like Seido, but I want my money back or a new case, I am not a happy camper!

Nope, sorry, I have a mount I purchased from Target, but it's available from eBay as well.

That is a typo error. That is the case that I ordered and it is definitely the Motorola Droid case. Type "droid combo holster" into the search box and it will take to a results page that shows both the Motorola Droid and HTC Droid Eris combo shell/holsters. It IS a Motorola Droid case and holster. It is very obvious from the location of the camera lens, which is in the top center of the Eris and not the top edge.

OK, thanks for that -- got it now. You said earlier that you have the verizon combo. In the pic, it looks like it has kind of an odd texture -- sort of corrugated-looking. Any comments, since you have one? Did you order yours or get it in a verizon store?

I think I will run by my nearby verizon store and see if they actually have one in stock that I could look at, though I'm not holding my breath that they will.

There are a few negative comments here about the Seidio case and how it limits access to the top row of keys, so I'm having second thoughts about having already ordered the Seidio combo. They don't ship it until the week of Dec 18, but checking my acc't online, I see that they have already pounded my credit card, but since they haven't shipped it yet, possibly I could still cancel the order and get my credit card credited back.

Yes, it does have grooves in the case. It gives it sort of a military or industrial look, but adds to the security of holding the phone. It also has a problem that has been discussed here. The tang on the small part near the camera does not engage the phone correctly. It seems that it is like this on most all samples. It doesn't hurt how well the case fits, but it is an annoyance. Some people didn't even notice it until they read about it. It is discussed in this thread:

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-accessories/497-motorola-droid-case-reviews-31.html

Check page 31 for what I say about it. Here is a discussion on the problem and a photo in post #40.

shell/holster combo problem - Android Forums

Here is some more info:

My Video Review of the Droid Shell/Holster Combo - Android Forums

I'm keeping mine, which I sent for. Verizon has free overnight shipping by FedEx. I have 2 Verizon corporate stores near me and neither one had any. If they get them in before 30 days are up then I will see if another one fits perfectly and exchange it. If not then I will grind that tang off with my Dremel. It is not necessary at all and the case is not about to come off without it. As I have said, there is no perfect case yet. Decide which features (err, defects) are the least important to you.

Yeah this doesn't sound very good at all. I ordered mine on friday and just now I recieved an email that its on backorder.. Should I cancel and wait for something better? Call quality being affected is definately not something that should be affected by a protective case. Is everyone else having this call quality problem?

I can hit the top buttons just fine. Not as easy as before, but something I have had too much trouble with.

There' is certainly no "flap" to sneak your fingers under, there is just slightly less key real estate. I can imagine somebody with larger fingers than mine might have a problem, but i have pretty decent sized hands.

Then again, I used to have a Samsung Alias, so that keyboard may have conditioned my fingers.

I got my case in the mail today. And it does not slide well at all. its literally hard to slide open and shut. i called them and told them and they said I was the first person who ever called and said they had a problem with it.... guys.. you need to call and tell them about this sliding issue if we want it to be redesigned. if we all wait...our hinges are gonna be ruined.
