Seidio Case

Does anyone know if these are available in retail stores yet? I live in NYC so I assume if they were they would be here somewhere...

Do you still have the plastic protective skin on the back of your display when you slide it out?

Oh. My. God. How did I not know that was there? Just last night I was complaining that the back of the slider looked ugly, now i realize it was because it had an old protector on it.

As for the sliding. It's definitely more firm to slide the phone open than before, but certainly not "harder." I prefer it, makes the phone seem more solid.

Now, where is my car dock Seidio??????

Has anyone confirmed whether or not it fits in the vzw combo holster? Trying to figure out if I have to order seidio's combo or just the case

If anyone else is having issues with it sliding out please post. make sure you take off the factory skin on the back of the slider first. please start your posts with "STIFF" if its not sliding right or "SMOOTH" if its sliding just fine so we can easily count to see if its a big problem.

Seidio Case + Holster Pre-Order 10% Discount

The droid Seidio case + the holster combo is available for pre-order on their website. I ordered mine yesterday. It's 49.95 for the combo less a 10% discount for pre-ordering. It states it ships the week of 12/18.

I had the combo for my G1, after having a succession of cheaper thicker cases. Seidio cases and holsters are the gold standard.

Are you talking about the film shown in the 2nd and 4th photos here:

seidioonline.com

If so, I don't believe that is intended to be removed. In any case, it is not removed in the photos shown on the Seidio site. I'm guessing that removing that would make the slider looser, which might be a problem if you take the case off in the future. If it doesn't fit with that on, then it is designed improperly. There is no interference there with my Verizon shell/holster combo. Since it appears that the Seidio case is even a better fit than mine, I see no reason why that would be necessary or recommended.

Motorola said you're supposed to take it off. It is only there to protect the back of the phone during production. Its been stated many times on these forums.

OK, I found an endless discussion on androidforums on whether this is supposed to be removed and the consensus was that it is meant to be removed. Mine had bubbles under the skin so I removed it and the sliding action is the same. It snapped open and closed before and still does and the friction seems to be the same.

Called "the shack" (an unfortunate name change) and Verizon, and neither have this case. Seideio list them both as retailers. I will order online if I must, but the imediate gratification part of me wants it NOW!

Yeah, that's definitely supposed to get taken off. Mine bubled up too. The discussion is about the "Seidio" logo on the back of the case. The answer to that, is that it is painted on, and thus not labled. I would be interested if you could order one not painted from the company. If you want a blank one, send an email, customer service seems pretty good at this point and since it's an initial production run, it might work.

Do it, you wont regret it. I have gotten nothing but compliments, much of the "my friend has a blue case and it's ugly as hell, where did you get that?"

You can either wait for them to ship it to the retailers which is going to take some time since they just got them made. I think by the time you get it in store you could of had it shipped and on your case many times over.

Does anybody have a link (to Motorola saying that)? I haven't seen this mentioned in any documentation...

I saw that thread, but to me consensus of a group of users is different than manufacturer recommendation...

Thanks,
Rick

The only things that I can go by is that 2 people said in that discussion that technical support said that it is intended to be removed, it was removed on the phones in at least one Verizon store and that if it was intended to be permanent I would think that it would be more rugged and not have like 20 bubbles under the film. Also, why would they go to the trouble of making thin precision etched vertical grooves in the shinny metal cover and then covering it with a cheap film? I know this is not conclusive, but it doesn't make sense to me that it is intended to be permanent.

Point well taken.
