Stock Motoblur ICS for droid4

Would not work for me. Said I needed a Motorola Service Account. I even selected to create one to see what would happen, but it's just stuck in a wait dialog, it seems.
Cheesecake no longer works as of a couple of days ago because Motorola pulled the leak from their Q/A servers. Look for a zip earlier in this thread and follow my instructions a few pages back (you might want to read up on the implications of flashing that was discussed too).

Thanks. Will do. Do you suspect a root will come along that works with this and anyone would then be able to get off of it when something newer comes along.

If you follow the tutorial you should be able to keep root in ICS, with regards to being able to get off of this build, only time will tell.

It's installing now. :) I landed here from a Google search, and did not notice I wasn't on the first page. I have since gone back and thread all the other pages. I am sure an official ICS would come along, but don't know how long, if it would be delayed again, or what. So, I went ahead after reading how people were saying almost everything works great. If it comes down to not being able to get any later updates, I guess I will deal with that until I get a new phone...or do the insurance thing when I have some extra bucks. :)

Is this ROM really worth taking the chance of never being able to turn back or brick the device? Everyone seems to do it knowing they can't turn back. Yet at least.

Well, it's real, official ICS, with no LTE or connection problems. Seems to be working really great from all I am hearing. Besides, the brains will probably figure out a way to get off of it. :D If not, I can deal with it one way or another as noted.

I am rebooting now after completing install...while eating my chicken pot pie. :D

I can't seem to get RootKepper to start up, though. Root Call Blocker keeps coming up saying it has been granted root access, but I don't think root is on there properly yet.

Edit: Got it working! :)

Has anyone tried any docks to see if they are working? I use my car dock on a daily basis and this could be a deal breaker for me.

I just installed the leak (didn't use the method to keep root) because Amazon is sending a replacement for my device that is supposed to get here tuesday.. (I had crackling in the handset speaker during voice calls and my keyboard is really hard to slide). Figured I would go ahead and install the leak to check it out. Honestly I'm really looking forward to the actual update. This rom is the best I've used yet. Everything works excellently.

I use bluetooth with a sony radio in my car (auto start pandora) and it pairs it flawlessly.

Vehicle Dock works perfectly, it's actually a version I've never used before but I like it a lot.

Looking forward to the official release so we can see root access and some fully-functional custom roms.

I like the face unlock feature, works pretty well; it also has you set up a pattern or a pin in case it can't see your face.

Anyways... I'm kind of rambling so I'll shutup now.

Does anyone still have the .crc file that downloaded along with the .zip file? It was only an 8kb file I believe.

I don't have an external SD and the .crc file is needed to sideload from internal storage.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found it :)

Help, trying to install it. It keeps aborting saying "assert failed: mount ("ext3", "MTD", "system", "/system") and then E:Error in /t.mp/sideload/package.zip (Status 7) then aborts. I have uninstalled Safestrap and am running the stock Gingerbread 2.3.6

If I were you, I would restore your phone with the fastboot files, and redownload the zip to your sd-card. That will most likely fix your problems.

I'm tempted, but possibly never having the option of running a awesome custom ROM like CM, Gummi or my favorite MIUI, would suck lol.

What makes me curious is, if the ics rom is ready to rock on the Droid 4 already...why don't they just push it out ota first lol? Ik it would screw up their release plan but come on: if it's done, stop making us wait VERIZON (and you too Motorola)!
