Swype Android Beta!!

I am rooted and running 5652 and although I have run into a few issues it is working quite well now, but with all the discussion I have downloaded 5612 and will be ready to install it if I run into issues.

Has anyone asked Swype what the difference is between these two releases?

Sorry, it's been a while for me to use swype. How do you get into the symbols while still in the alphabet screen. For example the letter "S" has the "$" on it. How do you get to the "$" without going to symbols?

The 5652 build is much larger than the 5612. My suspicion is that the former was a debugging version designed for development purposes and was mistakenly distributed. (Been there, done that.)

Long press until the $ appears above the keyboard.

When I had the 5652 version, I would get a notice upon starting my phone that said i was running a Swype version that was for another phone. I couldn't input the letters obj the Swype keyboard until I switched to the stock keyboard, then back to Swype through the input method option. The 5612 version does not have that bug.

i uninstalled swype today. its a great program and i enjoyed using it, it made typing a lot easier, but my battery life has been ridiculous since i installed swype. instead of my battery lasting 2-3 days, it now lasts about +/- 1 day, with virtually no change in usage. the only thing i did was install swype.

How in the heck do you get your battery to last 2-3 days? :icon_eek: I'm assuming you have an extended battery? :)

nope, no extended battery. i'm not on my phone a lot. work keeps me busy and when i'm home i'm always doing other things. i text a little during the day, go on the internet during my lunch and text a little here and there when i get home. i don't usually charge the phone until it tells me the battery is almost out. i usually get a minimum of 2 days outta one charge and sometimes as long as 3.

Wow lol, I can't not play with my phone for that long lol! more power to you! I wish my battery lasted for that long while heavy usage lol, and I thought my 19 hours with moderate usage was good lol

i just really wanna know what's killing my battery. i really can't think of anything else that it could be other than swype. i haven't changed anything else. my sync and background data is always off, phone is stock (no roms, not rooted, etc)

Swype takes so little resources that it doesnt even show up on my battery program as using ANY.

I strongly doubt if Swype is your problem.

Swype is amazing. I find myself using the Swype keyboard more than the slide out keyboard which was originally one of the primary reason is chose the Droid.
