[ROM] The CM7 Gingerbread ROM (CM4D2-GB) is now ready for prime time!

Is anyone having an issue with 3g where it is losing connectivity, though it's turned on. I have been having this issue for 2 days, it will restore upon reboot, but for some reason it keeps disconnecting.

I have had 3G turn off randomly a couple times, as well as having some connectivity issues.

I still have to plug USB in twice to get it to recognize.... I thought I read that got fixed?

No, that's another known issue still. I thought it had been too, but I read a couple days ago in the Dev thread that it was still an issue. I haven't noticed it though.

I am confused .. someone said something about flashing JBoxen's mod .. and I see the post in this thread about it, but don't see a separate file anywhere to be flashed. Just my ignorance or what? Someone enlighten me. I want to flash CM7GB soon :)

Accidental Observation

I am on vacation and decided that I couldn't live with my terrible battery life I was getting on CM7 froyo. Phone would lose a full charge in under 24 hours even if left idle! If being used I could only get a few hours at best. So, I decided to try going to CM7 Gingerbread, hoping that the battery life might be better.

I flashed the GB leak to get back on the right Kernal and ran into a major problem where I couldn't activate my phone due to my location outside of Verizon coverage! (Impossible per Verizon rep) Anyway, to make a long story short, I decided to try to restore a back up I had made a few months ago of Liberty GB to see if maybe it would automatically fix my radio since I couldn't do it the traditional way.

I got Liberty GB restored but the radio still was a no go so, as a last ditch effort I called Verizon again and what do you know, they walked me through manual activation and I was up and running!

Anyway, the point of all this is to highlight an observation made during this adventure. When I was on CM7 Froyo I had a weak/no 3G signal here in the cabin and only one or two bars of reception. As soon as I got Liberty GB running I had full 3G and full bars of reception!!! All of this was observed sitting in the same seat so I know it had nothing to do with my location. Also, I was able to lock on to the neighbors WIFI from anywhere in the cabin where, with CM7 Froyo I could sort of get it but would drop it constantly.

I don't know how this is possible but can say with 100% certainty that my phone gets far better reception on Liberty GB than it did on CM7 Froyo.

Gingerbread has an updated radio (.10p) and obviously different kernel, the new radio is most likely to be at the root of your improvements.

What do you mean by "manual activation?"

I had this issue with miui. Never with cm7 tho.

No such luck, I was able to restore my liberty GB back up but it didn't activate the phones radio:( I guess I'm SOL...

Damn bro...I'm sorry to hear that..mainly just wanted you to be able to use the phone at least as a wifi device..lol Hope you find a tower and maybe since your phone is out of service but you have your system working, try *228 and option 2 and in settings make sure your set to roam...you may incur charges..hope this helps...
