[ROM] The CM7 Gingerbread ROM (CM4D2-GB) is now ready for prime time!

I booted into MIUI and have data. I just don't have time right now to set it up fully, since I'm about to go to Houston...

Good ole I10... they've fixed it in the Katy area ok though.

I'm more off 290 between Houston and Austin.

Boot Manager

Ok having minor issues....used boot manager, installed my phone rom (cm7) and installed liquid 3.0, however when I go to boot into liquid I get stuck at the boot logo. Thought I did exactly what the instructions said...any ideas?

How long are you waiting? Being that it's booting off the sd card, it takes longer to boot. It can take up to 2 minutes on the boot logo before it goes

lol dude i waited for 30 minutes i ended up pulling the battery and when it rebooted it went into cwr so i just installed my backup build of cm7 i had.
havent messed with boot manager since as i was waiting on your response....i figured you would be the one to respond with help lol

Yup. Wipe and flash

Also, regarding boot manager, it's a good idea to change your sd card cache size. Depending on class, choose the appropriate cache size (test them out) It will help the roms running off the sd card a little less laggy.

This is the one I use. I'm on a class 4 card tho. If you have a class 2, go lower and if you have a class 6 or higher.... Go higher!

Ok, so this is a bit of a long post, but if anyone can help, I would apreciate it. :D
So two nights ago, my D2 developed some odd Wi-Fi problems that I haven't been able to fix with rebooting or clearing cache (which I could describe in another post in case anyone is curious). I was going to do a full reset, but decided this would be a good opportunity to flash an updated CM7 since I haven't updated since I first flashed CM7 GB back in September. I just want this to be a "clean" install, but I'm a little unsure of the recommended steps to do this from scratch.

I'm ok with SBFing back to Froyo, installing the OTA GB update, (which I know I don't have to do, but I like the practice ;) ) and then I'm not sure. My thought process is this: do NOT sync my Google account so that way all of my purchases apps are NOT installed, then root the device. Now here is where I get a little lost. I have purchased Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap (a while ago), ROM Manager, and ROM Toolbox. According to the OP, I can't use Toolbox to flash (but I can get RevNumber's builds) and I can't use Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap once CM7 is installed or it will bootloop, but what's the difference between that and the one ROM Manager uses? They're both Clockwork Recovery and I haven't had an issue with it in CM7? Or am I misinterpreting the OP? On the next note, I would like to avoid installing any apps (other than the required one) until after flashing to try to keep things "clean." Maybe it doesn't matter, but regardless, it seemed like the last time I tried to select only one app to install it started downloading all of the apps tied to my Google account. Is there a way to only download the ones I want and not all at once? Maybe I can save the apk of the app to the SD card before I wipe and then sideload it afterwards?

So back to flashing, say I'm rooted, with a clean GB OTA and no extra apps installed, now what's the best path forward? Do I use ROM Manager's latest CWR, download CM7 and GAPPS manually, place them on the SD card and flash that way? Can I use ROM Toolbox after that to download the latest builds and flash over? Or is there something else I'm missing?

I appreciate any advice in the matter. Thanks!

Edit: Part of my reasoning for doing a "clean" flash is so I can create backups of just the stock ROM and CM7 ROM without anything extra installed, to make it easier to go backwards.

VirtualCLD, you're rooted on ota gb? So, dl revs latest nightly from rom toolbox (it will go to the sd under rom toolbox/downloads).
Bootstrap recovery
Wipe data, cache and dalvik
Install cm7, then gapps
Reboot.
Once you're booted and at the setup screen ("welcome to DROID2"), sign in to google. After the location options screen, there will be a screen that has 2 boxs. One is "restore my device... " and the other is "keep this device backed up.. ". Uncheck the 1st box and keep the 2nd checked. This way, the market won't auto dl all your apps. You can then do it on your own in titanium backup.

Alright guys y'all seem to know what your talking about, so what is the best ota based rom for battery life alone? My average day is 5:30 AM to around 11:30 or midnight. I'm on liberty 3 rc1.2 now and its barely cutting it.
