The Official DF Droid 4 Pre-Release Thread

How has the call quality of the previous motorola Droid phones been? I need my phone to be a phone first and everything else second.
I'm looking forward to trying the D4 out! I've been on a virtual keyboard for too long.

I will answer that! Out of all of my devices being they are from all the big companies I have to hand it to Motorola. Then again they have been in the business long enough to know what's up. I've had Almost equal quality with HTC..But, must give the credit to Motorola. I've had not one issue in my experiences with call quality in any of them, Droid, Droid2, Atrix, D2G and that's just a few flag ships in the smartphone arena. If i ever did, which I'm sure i did, have any issues it was either software related from a bad flash or a bad area. Anyway hope this helps...

I can not wait for this phone. Since i havent had a qwerty phone since the Voyager and coming from a DX1, im super excited to experience a dual core, a nice keyboard, and 4g. There is no other phone out there that could even come close to changing my mind from getting this.

Just read these 31 pages hoping for good news on a release date. I guess 2/02 is the next date to look for it on? I'm on a bionic right now. Probably looking at the Razr Maxx or this droid 4 as long as they are released soon. Hope the screen on the D4 is as good as the razr screen. I have a razr sitting here next to my bionic and it blows it away.

its def not the same screen from what i heard. honestly i never have used my droid for a lot of media viewingm for a few reasons 3g is slow as hell, 3 g is slow as hell, takes for ever to load videos and other things, i use it for work email vmail occasional look up of things. i have a home theater with a movie theater surround sound if i want to watch media. if your looking for an amazing amoled you wont find it here. I dont mean to dissapoint i just wanna let you know what i heard through videos and there own specs. this is what they want it to be a good business phone, just what they are promoting it for. just fyi i am def getting this phone and would recomend it to anyone especially those Crackberry users comming fromt the darkside

Why does everyone equate video with streaming? Even on my old LG Vx9800 I loaded vids on the .5gb SD card. Now, w/32 gigs I can't wait for VLC Android. I want my .AVIs on the card so I can watch Casablanca on my phone while waiting for my wife to finish up at the grocery store.

If your movies are on your SD card your dl speed matters not -- and you're not using up your MBs to watch them either. You can put maybe 40 flicks in 32gbs, keep an extra & swap it in if you have more than that.

I convert shows to watch on my Droid 1 (while I'm at lunch). I rarely stream video on phone usually a short youtube clip if anything. And actually when I'm watched tv on some program app it's not bad at all for me, haven't done it forever as I don't get 3g when I'm at lunch, but before I got my TV I tried it a couple of time and worked. The small screen is what gets me, but for a short tv show, it works.

I even watched streamed tv shows on my old eNV2 phone and it was fine (I got that Verizon media thing with my "plan" and it worked when I didn't have cable).

I guess it depends on what you expect a phone to do. If you want surround sound and great graphics, then you're out of luck (obviously), but for short tv shows or minimual watching, then it would work.

No point at all in that bloatware NetFlix app...

If the small-screen milieu of a smartphone is only suitable for short shows, why would anyone need an app, like Netflix, to stream full-length movies on a D4?

Wow man..lol I love Netflix..not so much having it pushed into bloat but hell I love that i can stream endlessly. I rarely ever get any hesitation or buffering at all. Even on my 3g. Lovely picture as well. Wearing my S10 for Bluetooth sound adds to the effect..Like I said I do understand that having ANY app forced on us isn't cool...
