The Official DF Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread

I find it funny you are all overlooking the images I posted. They are from the same source as the 2nd image Droid-Life posted showing the 8th as the new date. I'm telling you, without a doubt, you CAN trust OMM (Verizon mechandising). It's an internal (intranet) portal only, accessible only from VZW-intranet connected computers and is a 110% legit corporate system. You even need a special login to get access - this isn't just any e-mail sent to all VZW employees. This is how store managers often know what is happening but won't say anything to reps (who are purposely kept in the dark) - usually just managers and the OMM/merchandising person in the store (sometimes a rep, sometimes an assistant manager) have access. And they are *not* allowed to speak of launch dates/releases to other employees unless it's their superior. If you're a rep doing OMM, you do not discuss information you see in OMM with others. After all, someone has to change promos, call-out cards, get inventory ready, etc. It's the OMM person. And they have to know stuff ahead of time. To ignore this as a source is asinine.

The 8th, at this point, is less of a rumor and more of a proven but tentative date. And yes, OMM can change and will be updated if the launch date changes. And if the date changes, I can do what I can to get more pictures to show the new date, but it may be that the 8th comes and is indeed the launch date. I am not loyal to this date, but until I see a different date in OMM, if it even happens at all, I am sold. Pretty hard to argue with this when the piece of paper is in your very own hand.

They put this out there as a trick to throw everyone off the scent of the real release. December 15.... :)

Well, the specs aren't in OMM, so I can't leak those, sorry. I'm as in the dark about that as anyone else. I don't genuinely foresee a device this big shipping with anything less than 32GB internal storage and coming in at anything less than $299 in terms of pricing. This is the Verizon way for 4G Android phones.

I wasn't gonna trust you if you said it was only 100% legit, but that extra 10% convinced me. :)

BTW, I have it from a credible source that the Nexus WILL have 32gb internal ram and an external +5 longsword. No word yet on if it is vorpal. /nerdspeak

I'm in Orlando, would love to see it. Let me know when and where. I'll buy you some McDonald's.

If he whip it out for you (I am referring to the phone) then you can at least do better than McDonald's . Maybe Chick-fil-a ;).

At this point I think we've picked every Thursday on the freaking calendar as a possible release date. I think it will be 12/1. Or 12/8. Maybe even the 15th. But 12/22 seems a little more realistic. On second thought, 12/29 is perfect, just in time for a New Year's release. Yup.

Appreciate you posting those pics JFMFT.
Yes at this points it's all spec driven and for me, 16 vs 32. I wish they would just go ahead and make the announcement so I know that I am not waiting in vain.

The month of December is my drop-dead date. If nothing in December, I'm getting the Regag. I've already been using the same device for 2 years. I don't even keep my cars that long! :icon_eek:

Oh just think of it as a cool visual effect! lol

well atleast its not just the vzw version. Ok vzw do ur thing and get it right before releasing it. I already had one anticipated device turn into a lemon (tbolt) dont want another.

Just to extinguish any "bug" fires, this volume bug is only occurring when the phone drops to 2G in the UK.

Well, the phone is only available in the UK so it's not a guarantee that that's the only time it happens or that it wont happen in the US. US testers haven't mentioned it yet, but that doesn't really mean anything either. The bugs seem to come out after launch usually.
