The Official DF Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread

I don't think we'll hear anything until tomorrow. If we hear anything from them anyway, I think it'll come quietly.

@Panther - No, I remember it being before the 8th even. So many people were being negative. But I do agree, evidence this time is no where near AS strong, but only because the leaks we've gotten haven't been called "official".

When it does come, I think it will be a quiet release. I think they are doing a better job controlling leaks at an upper management level or the 15th isnt the day

I think one very telling thing I heard yesterday was that someone was told by a rep specifically "Unless we hear otherwise, we are set to sell them on the 15th" which means that the stores and reps shouldn't be getting any more communications about the phone, therefore there is nothing else to leak out unless it ends up being a no-go.

So what you're saying is we should find a way to disrupt all communications (internet, home phone, cell towers, etc) until some time tomorrow, after each of us have made our purchases?

Please hold for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience.
You are now chatting with 'Logan D'
Logan D: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
Jeff: Is there a release date on the Galaxy Nexus yet?
Logan D: No I am sorry there is not.
Jeff: Okay, thanks.
Logan D: No problem! We do have alot better phones on the line up right now!
Logan D: Specifically the Rezound!
Jeff: I like to avoid Sense and Motoblur. I'm only interested in the beast that is the Nexus. Thanks for your time though. Once it is finally out I will come to Verizon.
Logan D: Got it! May I ask what you like about the Nexus?
Jeff: The bigger screen, Android 4.0, faster updates directly from Google, ease of rooting, no added UI, no-lag shutter camera and the bigger battery. Not to mention the saftware for Android 4.0 was designed to work with the hardware specifically in the Nexus.
Logan D: I see! Those are the best answers I have received! Fair enough! May I assist with anything else today?
Jeff: That's all. Thanks for you time Logan
Logan D: It has been my pleasure to chat with you today! Please feel free to re-open the chat session if you need further assistance . Thank you and have a great day!
Logan D: I appreciate the answer by the way, that clears up alot about why alot of my customers are interested in the Nexus! Thanks for the Info!
Jeff: Not a problem. Lots of us have been waiting years for a Nexus on Verizon.
Logan D: I have heard as such! I hope I will receive for information soon so I can give it out!
Logan D: Happy Holidays!
Jeff: You too! Have a good one.
Logan D: Thanks!

Take this with a grain of salt obviously, but the store I've been speaking with finally cracked and admitted tomorrow was the day. I know I know, we've heard this all before, but I felt good after the phone call.

Me: Will I be able to come in tomorrow to purchase a galaxy nexus?
Rep: Are you an existing verizon wireless customer looking to upgrade?
Me: Yes.
Rep: Well come on in at 10am to get one.
Me: So you are saying that the phone comes out tomorrrow?
Rep: Yup. We have plenty.

Mind you, this is the first time the this store has ever said more than just, "we dont know anything." They were very very tight lipped about the whole thing. Yeeeeeaaaaaaa buddy!!!!

if I were to be a 4g lte tablet from Ebay or from VZ with out a contract, would I be able to use the sim card from my Gnex (when I get it) and be able to switch back and forth? Also, will the Gnex run in 3g mode with out a LTE sim card? Can I still make /receive calls and texts?

So, when we get our Nexi tomorrow, when we first log into our Google account, are all 100+ apps that I've bought from the Android Market going to download and install automatically? I've been buying every $0.10 app that has come out the last week, but I don't necessarily want them ALL to download and install to my device...

Anyone know how to prevent this?

What's up with the "are you an existing customer looking to upgrade" are just letting existing customers get it tomorrow? Maybe that's the reason for no "official" announcement

I've never seen something more ridiculous in my life. They announce the White RAZR, the stupid pointless Xyboard (duhhhsadfhsd fsadffds doyy), and other things with no issues, but have not said a word about the Nexus in months, even after many heavily rumored release dates and actual receiving of devices to stores.

When do shipments of devices to the stores ever not mean the imminent and very soon release of the device? Oh, just with the Nexus, of course... of course.... The one phone I've wanted in 2 years, that's all. What a surprise.

Absolutely ridiculous. I'm so utterly pissed off. And I'm not even begging for the phone, I just want a word, information, a release date, a damn crumb to hold me over. Stupid company, I hope they go bankrupt and whoever makes these decisions becomes homeless.... well no I'm not that mean, only Verizon is.
