The Official DF Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release Thread

When they say "will definitely send a press release to announce availability," that means they will tell us ahead of time, not the day of. So no it's not tomorrow man.

I'm so done with this crap. Who the hell wants to wait until after Christmas for this stupid thing.

Don't know why you'd say that, other than pure pessimism. The press release could come at midnight tonight (or 9am tomorrow morning) for the launch tomorrow. In fact, that's how I read it.

But then again, your glass appears to be leaking heavily and mine is always full.

What I still find very very odd is that AndroidAndMe was the only place to get this "Press Release" why them?? do they have some understanding or reciprocity setup with VZW?

That's the way i'm looking at it. Full here and if it doesn't oh well. My Droid is pretty much dead, but as long as it works then I'll wait

Makes sense.... the update gets wrapped up and ready to rollout upon activation and VZW get's notified it's read and is finalizing their paper work/press releases with the first one in the que being "We will let you know when it is available" and here we are....

I sure hope you're right. It sounds logical. It would just be really super if VZW would be a bit more forthcoming. I don't think it would hurt the company's image at all to acknowledge any kinks in a release and keep their customers in the loop a bit better.

I don't think it was a press release. It was a general response to them asking about the GNex. "You will know it when you see it" kind of thing.

It would probably help the company actually

Who knows... may VZW is waiting for the "Self Destruct" command that they sent to all Droid 1s in the world to kick in to force everyone into a Razr followed by a $35 restocking fee 3 days later when the G-Nex comes out.

"We can't put something on hold that hasn't even launched yet"

Gahhhhh. Where is my girlfriend when I need her.

We had a plan all set up on Saturday to try to get some info out of a manager. Our plan went that she was going to go into the store and find the manager, and get some small talk going about how she is a sophomore at the local community college. I told her to say that she was bi, and that her and her girlfriend were trying to find a guy for their committed threesome.

Needless to say she bailed on our plan last minute.

You know, I keep hearing everyone saying their Droid is dead. Mine is scuffed up a bit, and the power button doesn't press down as well as it used to (but still works), but the device itself it working just as well as it always has. I'm giving it to my Dad when I get my GN. I guess I just lucked out on my Droid.

Problem with that is that AndroidandMe is their source the article... so it really adds nothing to the picture except PhanDroid's writer's personal speculations...

I'm not very familiar with Androidandme, but it is really odd that no other major tech sites have received or acknowleged receipt of an email. I checked Engadget, BGR, Techcrunch, Androicentral while both Phandroid and DroidLife refer back to Androidandme. Weird.

Which makes it seem less like them taking initiative and trying to make a point of anything and more like "Stop bugging us, AndroidandMe, and go clean your room before Supper!" kind of canned response which makes the message seem about as important as the chat response of "We don't know anything, go here and sign up for the e-mail" that the rest of us get.
